INSTRUCTIONS

Attach the thread to the fabric and pick up three green beads. These beads are the beginning of the outer edge. Stitch on to the fabric. Bring the needle back up to the second bead and stitch through the last two beads added. Pick up three more beads and complete the row adding 10 beads in total.

Complete two rows of white seed beads inside this outer edge. Pick up five beads and stitch down, come back through the second bead and stitch through to the fifth bead and pick up the next five beads and repeat.

Now start the red section. Pick up four bicone beads and stitch them down. Come back through the third bead and stitch through to the fourth bead. Pick up the next 4 and do the same. Add one bead at the end so there are 9 in total.

In the next row add 3 red beads and the first watermelon seed which is the purple bead. In the next series add one red bicone, one purple rice bead and two more red bicones.

The next row is red bicones only and forms the outer edge of the watermelon on the other side. Add 9 bicones here as you did in the first row of bicones.

Fill the inside with bicone and rice bead rows alternating rows with the purple rice beads so that every second row has the watermelon seed (purple beads).

Continue in this fashion till you have completed all the beading.

Cut the backing felt to match the bead work.

To attach the backing add a further row of matching beads around the completed beadwork one at a time. When you place the bead take your needle through the thread that exits the bead to form a locking stitch. It will sit neater doing it this way. Continue around the bead work and keep the colour way until the edging is complete.

Star Fruit

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• 15/0 White Ceylon Seed Beads
• 12/0 Gold Seed Beads
• 12/0 Bronze Seed Beads
• JBSV21 Light Gold Bicones 4mm
• JBQ91 Light Gold Bicones 6mm
• Felt, fabric interfacing, needle and Wildfire thread

INSTRUCTIONS

Start the beadwork from the centre one bead at a time. Use five large bicones to complete the centre in a flower shape. Come up from underneath the fabric interfacing to attach the first bicone.

Fill the centre of the flower with a smaller bicone and a white seed bead.

Bring the thread out through one of the side bicones and thread on 11 white seed beads to add the first spoke out to the edge of the shape. All of the spokes will come out of the bicones in this way. Repeat until there are 5 spokes.

Bring the thread out to the edge of the last spoke and thread on 9 gold seed beads to form the first point. The star points form a peak or arrow shape around each spoke. Sew the seed beads on in this manner. There are 9 gold seed beads either side of each spoke. Every 3 seed beads take the thread back down through the interfacing and bring back up again through the last two. This will make the seed beads more secure.

Once the gold outline of the star shape is completed repeat using white seed beads on the inside. There will be two outlines, an outside gold and an inside white one.

Fill the inside of the shape with small gold bicones.

Cut out the felt to match the completed beadwork size.

Finish by using the bronze seed beads to capture both the felt and the beadwork with one last row around the outside to form a nice edge.

Lime Beaded Fruit

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• 15/0 White Ceylon Seed Beads
• JBZ02 Light Blue or Green Rounds 4mm.
• JBQ38 Dark Green Rice Beads
• Felt, fabric interfacing, needle and Wildfire thread

INSTRUCTIONS

Attach 12 green rice beads in a semi-circle on to the fabric interfacing.

Attach a row of white seed beads between each end of the green rice beads creating a segment (semi-circle) shape.

Do a second row of seed beads inside the green rice bead semi-circle.

Create 4 spokes with the white seed beads

Fill in the wedges with your 4mm round beads. Work two beads at a time.

Cut out the felt to match the beadwork size you have completed.

Finish by using white seed beads to capture both the felt and the beadwork with one last row around the outside to form a nice edge.

Feijoa Beaded Fruit

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• 15/0 White Ceylon Seed Beads
• JBSV21 Light Gold Bicones 4mm
• JBQ27 Amber Saucer Glass Beads
• JBQ34 Green Saucer Glass Beads
• JBQ52 Amber Faceted Rice Beads
• Felt and fabric interfacing, needle and Wildfire thread

INSTRUCTIONS

Start the beadwork from the centre of a small circle shape one bead at a time. Stitch in four faceted rice beads in the shape of a cross.

Bring the thread back up from the back at the right tip of one of the faceted rice beads. Place four saucer beads on the thread and make a circle by bringing the thread back down through the fabric on the left tip of the rice bead. Place a further saucer bead in the gap in the middle of this circle. There will be 5 beads in this cluster.

Repeat this step 4 times.

There will be four gaps in between the cross and the clusters. Fill these gaps with 4mm bicones.

Create a circle of gold 4mm bicones around the outside of the centre design.

Fill in the gaps around the centre beadwork and the outside circle with further gold 4mm bicones so there are no gaps.

Create one final outside circle with the green saucer beads. Thread on two at a time and edge around the beadwork fitting the beads into the gaps. This creates the green "skin" of the fruit.

Cut around the completed beadwork and cut a piece of felt to the same size. Edge the beadwork with white seed beads to capture both the beadwork and the felt together.

Blood Orange

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• 12/0 Frosted White 2 Cut Seed Beads
• 12/0 Dark Orange Seed Beads
• 12/0 Rainbow Red Seed Beads
• Felt, fabric interfacing, needle and Wildfire thread

INSTRUCTIONS

Attach the thread to your fabric and pick up five orange beads and stitch into the fabric, come back to the second bead and stitch through the three beads. Create a semi-circle shape with approximately 60 seed beads.

Attach a row of white seed beads between each end of the orange semi-circle creating a segment shape.

Do a second row of white seed beads inside the orange semi circle.

Create 4 spokes with the white seed beads.

Fill in between the spokes with the rainbow red seed beads.

When the beading is completed cut around the edge and attach the felt backing.

Start the edging to bring the felt and fabric interfacing layers together with two beads on the needle and stitch into both layers. Bring the needle up through the second bead. Place the next bead so it sits beside the last bead. Continue the edging one bead at a time till around the whole beadwork.
