Halloween Critter Crown & Necklace Project

LEVEL: EASY

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Black Wire
  • Spooky Hollow spiders, ants, cockroaches, centipedes
  • Hot Glue Gun and glue sticks
  • Gold spray paint
  • Thin gold wire and black wire
  • Pliers/Wire Cutters

INSTRUCTIONS

CROWN:

Step 1 - Lay down some newspaper and place your critters on top ready to spray. Ensure you have enough bugs for both the necklace and crown we used a mixture of gold and black critters in both pieces. Evenly cover the critters with the gold spray paint, holding the can about 20cm away from them as you spray. Allow 24 hours for paint to dry.

Step 2 - Start by wrapping the thick wire around your head to determine the length needed for the crown. Cut 3 pieces of wire at this length and loosely plait/intertwine together. Twist all the ends of the wires together with pliers to create a full and secure circle, this will be the base of your crown.

Step 3 - You can now begin to assemble your crown. Use the larger critters around the base and secure in place with the thin wire. Continue to build layers of the critters overlapping each other, use wire or the hot glue gun to secure in place. Continue this process until you are happy with the finished look.

CHOCKER NECKLACE:

Step 1 - Cut 1 long piece of thin wire, long enough to go around your neck twice.

Step 2 - Wrap wire around the body of an ant tightly to secure. Add another ant and wrap wire around to secure closely next to the first ant.

Step 3 - Continue Step 2 preocess until you have enough ants to go around your neck and create chocker necklace. Cut off excess wire.

Step 4 - To finish use pliers to create a hook with the wire to open and close the necklace.
