ROUND SEAT CUSHIONS

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 - Create you pattern by drawing a circle of 40cm diameter onto the paper. Then add 1cm seam allowance around the outside of the circle and cut out with scissors.

Step 2 - Fold the fabric in half and pin circle pattern to the fabric. Use scissors to cut out
fabrics to round shape.

Step 3 - Once all your circle pieces have been cut out, place the pieces right sides together and pin around the circumference of the circles.

Step 4 - Use the sewing machine to stitch your fabric layers together with a 1cm seam
allowance, do not sew around the entire circle be sure to leave a gap of about 10cm for turning through later.

Step 5 - Use the fabric scissors to snip into the seam allowance of the circles. Ensure not to go through the stitching line. This will help give the circle a nice clean/round edge when finished.

Step 6 - Turn the cushion so the right side is facing out (through the gap you left in step 4). Fill your cushion up with hobby fill through this gap until your cushion reaches your desired thickness.

Step 7 - When you are happy with the amount of fill use a hand sewing needle and some thread to close the opening in the seam.

Step 8 - Use a ruler to find the centre of the cushion and lightly mark with a pen or pencil. Then evenly mark 5 more points
around the centre of the cushion, repeat these same marks and measurements on the back side of the cushion.

Step 9 - To finish, use the needle and thread to sew through the marked positions of the cushion. Pull the thread tight to create tufting. Be sure to start from the middle and work your way out as tufting will keep the stuffing inside the cushion from bunching or shifting unevenly. Make sure to secure the ends of thread with a knot or if you like a button to add a decorative touch. Now cushions are ready to use.
