AUSSIE CHRISTMAS BUNTING CUSHION

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• 1 x Aussie Xmas Bunting Panel, multi
• 80cm 'Prima Homespun', white
• Matching 'Gutermann' 100% cotton thread
• Rotary cutter, mat & quilters rulers
• Quilting pins, tape measure
• Scissors, seam ripper
• Sewing machine with 1/4" foot & walking foot
• Template plastic
• 'Legacy' Fuse Under
• 1 x size 20 Cushion insert (51cm x 51cm)

Note: 1/4" seam allowance used throughout unless otherwise indicated.

INSTRUCTIONS

CUSHION

Note - bunting flags have been made smaller to fit across the cushion front.

Step 1. Using the template plastic cut out a triangle 6 1/2" across the top edge and 6 1/2" deep (see diagram).

Step 2. Place triangle template face down on the paper side of Legacy Fuse Under and trace. Cut out 12 triangles leaving a 1/2" border around the edge of each.

Step 3. Cut out 12 flags from the bunting panel. Position triangle template on each flag as desired and cut out leaving a 1" border around the edge of each.

Step 4. Fuse the Legacy Fuse Under triangles onto the wrong side of the selected flags and cut out along the lines.

Step 5. From the white homespun cut one 20" square for the cushion front and two 20" x 14" rectangles for the back. For the cushion backs, sew a double hem along one 20" long side of each rectangle - fold and press under 1/4" then another 1/4" and topstitch hem in place.

Step 6. Arrange flags across the 20" homespun square, refer to photo for placement and 3 flags across the top back rectangle (hemmed edge will be at the bottom of the top section). Remember that 2 flags will need to be cut for the ends of top and bottom rows.

Step 7. When happy with design cut 2 flags in half, remove the backing paper and fuse all triangles in place. Topstitch around all flags close to the edge.

Step 8. With cushion front right side up, place top back piece face down on top, aligning top and side raw edges with hemmed edge towards the centre. Pin in place. Place other back piece face down on top aligning bottom and side edges with hemmed edge overlapping the other piece in the centre. Pin in place.

Step 9. Sew together around all four sides using 1/4" seam allowance. Clip corners and overlock or zigzag seams to neaten. Turn cover right side out and press flat.

Step 10. Place size 20 insert into cover with back edges overlapping.
