SEMCO MACRAME LEAVES

Semco Macrame Leaves Project

Level: Easy

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 1 roll Recycled Macrame Cord
  • Sharp Scissors
  • Stiff Brush

INSTRUCTIONS

Cut the following strands:

  • 1 x 80cm strand for the spine
  • 10-12 x 35cm strands for the top
  • 8-10 x 30cm strands for the middle
  • 6-8 x 25cm strands for the bottom

Step 1 - Fold the 80cm strand in half. Take one of the 35cm strands, fold it in half and tuck it under the spine.

Take another 35cm strand, fold it in half and insert it into the loop of the top horizontal strand. Pull it through and lay it horizontally, on top of the opposing strand. Pull the bottom strands all the way through the top loop, this forms the knot and pull both sides tight.

Step 2 - On the next row, alternate the starting side, so if you laid the horizontal strand from left to right the first time, you'll lay the horizontal strand from right to left next.

Lay the first folded strand under the spine, thread another folded strand into its loop. Pull the lower strands through the top loop and tighten.

Keep going and work gradually down in size.

Step 3 - Push the strands up to tighten - take the bottom of the spine strand and push the smaller strands up to create a fuller feather. Once done, drag the fringe downwards to meet the bottom of the middle strand.

Step 4 - Trim to a feather shape, refer to the picture After a rough trim, place the feather on a durable surface and brush out the strands. Trim once finished to get a sharp edge to the feather.
