WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • 4 Seasons Pure Wool Entwine 8ply 1 x 100g ball of Main Colour (MC) - small amount of 4 Contrast Colours (C1-white, C2-black, C3-green, C4-red).
  • 1 pair 3.00mm knitting needles
  • Polyester Filling
  • A stitch holder
  • Scissors, wool needle, tape measure

INSTRUCTIONS

BACK AND FRONT (both alike)

First Leg

Using 3.00mm needles and MC, cast on 9 sts.
1st row - Inc in first st, knit to last 2 sts, inc in next st, K1 ... 11 sts.
2nd row - Purl.
Rep last 2 rows twice more ... 15 sts.
For Plain Legs - Work 20 rows stocking st. **
For Stripe Legs - Work 4 rows stocking st.
Using C1, work 2 rows stocking st.
Using MC, work 2 rows stocking st.
Using C1, work 2 rows stocking st.
Using MC, work 10 rows. **
For Either Leg Break off yarn, slip these sts onto stitch holder and leave.

SECOND LEG

Work as for First Leg to ** of either Legs.
Next row - K15, then knit across 15 sts from stitch holder... 30 sts.
Work 11 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
Next row - Inc in first st, knit to last 2 sts, inc in next st, K1... 32 sts.
Work 11 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
Next row - Inc in first st, knit to last 2 sts, inc in next st, K1... 34 sts.
Next row - Purl.
Shape Raglan - Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows... 30 sts.
Next row - K1, sl 1, K1, psso, knit to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1... 28 sts.
Next row - Purl.
Rep last 2 rows until 12 sts rem, ending with a purl row.
Shape Head - Cast on 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows ... 16 sts. Inc one st at each end of every row until there are 32 sts. Work 16 rows stocking st.
Shape Top of Head - Dec one st at each end of every row until 12 sts rem. Cast off rem sts. Make another piece the same for the Front.

ARMS (make 2)

Using 3.00mm needles and MC, cast on 14 sts.
1st row - K1, inc in next st, K4, (inc in next st) twice, K4, inc in next st, K1 ... 18 sts.
2nd row - Purl.
3rd row - K1, inc in next st, K6, (inc in next st) twice, K6, inc in next st, K1 ... 22 sts.
4th row - Purl.
5th row - K1, inc in next st, K8, (inc in next st) twice, K8, inc in next st, K1 ... 26 sts. ***
For Plain Arms - Work 13 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
For Stripe Arms - Work 3 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
Using C1, work 2 rows stocking st.
Using MC, work 2 rows stocking st.
Using C1, work 2 rows stocking st.
Using MC, work 4 rows stocking st.
For Either Arms - Shape Raglan - Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows ... 22 sts.
Next row K1, sl 1, K1, psso, knit to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1... 20 sts.
Next row - Purl.
Rep last 2 rows until 4 sts rem, ending with a purl row. Cast off rem sts.

BOW TIE

Using 3.00mm needles and C3 or C4, cast on 6 sts. Knit 44 rows garter st.Cast off.Join cast-off and cast-on edges together.
Using same colour yarn, wind around bow tie several times in centre and secure.

BUTTONS

(make 2, if making vest or 3 for other people)
Using 3.00mm needles and C3 or C4, cast on 10 sts. Knit 1 row.
Break off yarn and run end through rem sts. Pull up tight and join ends together.

TO MAKE UP

DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st, join raglan seams, noting that the tops of arms for part of neck. Join head pieces together, joining the cast on sts of head to the castoff sts at top of arms. Join arm seams, adding filling to head and arms. Join front and back, adding filling as you go. Embroider facial features, using C2 for eyes and C4 for mouth as pictured. Sew bow ties to neck at front and buttons down centre front as pictured.

For Vest Using C1 and stem st, embroider outline of vest on upper body of back and front. Using C3 and Knitting St, embroider sts at random inside outline of vest. For Zig Zag - Using C1 and straight st, embroider zig zag around each lower arm and leg as pictured.
