WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • "4 Seasons" Marvel 8ply 100g
  • Hobby fill
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

Acorn

  • Ball 1st Colour (C1) Taupe x1
  • Ball 2nd Colour (C2) Chocolate x 1

Bon Bon

  • Ball 1st Colour (C1) White x 1
  • Ball 2nd Colour (C2) Green x 1
  • Small amount of Red yarn for bows

Mushroom

  • Ball 1st Colour (C1) White x 1
  • Ball 2nd Colour (C2) Red x 1

Snowman

  • Ball 1st Colour (C1) White x 1
  • Small amount of Lime, Red, Orange and Black for scarf and features
  • Small buttons for Snowman x 3

Santa

  • Ball of 1st Colour (C1) x 1
  • Red and a small amount of White
  • Flesh and Black yarn for head and trims
  • A pair of 3.25mm knitting needles.

 

Note - quantities stated will make several of each decoration.

 

TENSION

Correct tension is not essential for these decorations; however a firm fabric is desirable.

INSTRUCTIONS

ACORN

Using 3.25mm needles and C1, cast on 1 st leaving a long end.

1st row - (K1, P1, K1, P1, K1) all in next st ... 5 sts.

2nd row - Purl.

3rd row - K1, (inc in next st, K1) twice ... 7 sts.

4th row - Purl.

5th row - K1, inc in each of next 5 sts, K1 ... 12 sts.

6th row - Purl.

7th row - (K1, inc in next st) 5 times, K2 ... 17 sts.

8th row - Purl.

9th row - K1, (inc in next st, K2) 5 times, K1 ... 22 sts.

Work 5 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.

Using C2, knit 4 rows garter st.

19th row - K1, (K2tog,K1) 7 times ... 15 sts.

20th row - Purl.

21st row - K1, (K2tog) 7 times ... 8 sts.

22nd row - Purl.

Break off C2 leaving a long end. Thread yarn through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using long end of C1 left at beg and mattress st, join side edges tog, firmly filling with poly fill and moulding to shape as seam is sewn. Using C2, thread a hanging loop through top of Acorn and fasten off securely.

BON BON

Using 3.25mm needles and C1, cast on 21 sts.

Knit 4 rows garter st (1st row is WS).

5th row - (Sl 1, K2tog, psso) 7 times ... 7 sts.

Using C2, knit 2 rows garter st.

8th row - (K1, inc in next st) 3 times, K1 ... 10 sts.

9th row - Purl.

10th row - K1, (inc in next st, K1) 4 times, K1 ... 14 sts.

11th row - Purl.

12th row - K1, (inc in next st, K2) 4 times, K1 ... 18 sts.

13th row - Purl.

Beg Stripes -

Using C1, knit 2 rows garter st.

Using C2, work 2 rows stocking st beg with a knit row.

Last 4 rows form stripe patt.

Rep last 4 rows 6 more times.

Using C1, knit 2 rows garter st.

Using C2, 44th row - Knit.

45th row - P1, (P2tog, P2) 4 times, P1 ... 14 sts.

46th row - Knit.

47th row - P1, (P2tog, P1) 4 times, P1 ... 10 sts.

48th row - Knit.

49th row - (P1, P2tog) 3 times, P1 ... 7 sts.

Knit 2 rows garter st.

Using C1, 52nd row - (K1, P1, K1) in each st to end ... 21 sts.

Knit 3 rows garter st.

Cast off purlways.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Cut 2 cardboard circles 3cm in diameter. Using mattress st, join first half of side edges tog. Place first cardboard circle in C2 shaped section at lower end of bon bon, then fill evenly with polyfill. Cont joining side edges, filling as you go and placing second cardboard circle in position in C2 shaped section at top end of bon bon. Close rem seam. Using red yarn, tie bows around each end of bon bon as pictured. Using C2, thread a hanging thread through one end of bon bon and fasten off securely.

MUSHROOM

Using 3.25mm needles and C1, cast on 3 sts.

1st row - (K1, P1, K1) in each st ... 9 sts.

Work 5 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.

7th row - (K1, inc in next st) 4 times, K1 ... 13 sts.

8th row - Purl.

9th row - (K2, inc in next st) 4 times, K1 ... 17 sts.

10th row - Purl.

11th row - (K3, inc in next st) 4 times, K1 ... 21 sts.

12th row - Purl.

13th row - (K4, inc in next st) 4 times, K1 ... 25 sts.

14th row - Purl.

Using C2, knit 2 rows garter st.

Work 6 rows stocking st, beg with a knit row.

23rd row - (K4, K2tog) 4 times, K1 ... 21 sts.

Work 3 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.

27th row - (K3, K2tog) 4 times, K1 ... 17 sts.

28th row - Purl.

29th row - (K2, K2tog) 4 times, K1 ... 13 sts.

30th row - Purl.

31st row - (K1, K2tog) 4 times, K1 ... 9 sts.

Break off C2 leaving a long end.

Thread yarn through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.

FINISHING.

DO NOT PRESS. Cut a circle of cardboard 4.5cm in diameter. Using C1 and mattress st, beg at cast on edge, join side edges tog for first half of mushroom. Fill stalk firmly with hobbyfill, insert cardboard circle and cont joining side edges, filling mushroom and moulding to shape as you go. Using C1 and straight st, embroider spots on C2 section of mushroom as pictured. Using C2, thread a hanging loop through top of mushroom and fasten off securely.

SNOWMAN

Using 3.25mm needles and C1, cast on 1 st.

1st row - (K1, P1, K1, P1, K1) all in one st ... 5 #sts.

2nd row - Purl.

3rd row - (K1, inc in next st) twice, K1 ... 7 sts.

4th row - Purl.

5th row - (K1, inc in next st) 3 times, K1 ... 10 sts.

6th row - Purl.

7th row - (K1, inc in next st) 5 times ... 15 sts.

8th row - Purl.

9th row - (K2, inc in next st) 5 times ... 20 sts.

10th row - Purl.

11th row - (K3, inc in next st) 5 times ... 25 sts.

12th row Purl.

13th row - (K4, inc in next st) 5 times ... 30 sts.

Work 3 rows stocking st. beg with a purl row.

45th row - (K2tog) 5 times ... 5 sts.

Break off yarn leaving a long end.

Thread yarn through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.

SCARF

Using 3.25mm needles and red yarn, cast on 5 sts, knit 5 rows garter st (1st row is WS).

Using green yarn, cont in garter st until scarf measures 15cm from beg, working last row on WS.

Using red yarn, knit 5 rows garter st.

Cast off.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress stitch, join side edges of snowman tog to form centre back seam, filling with polyfill as you go and moulding to shape. Tie scarf around snowman's neck as pictured. Using orange yarn, work a grub stitch for nose as pictured. Using black yarn, embroider eyes as pictured. Sew on 3 buttons securely on front as pictured.

SANTA

Work as for Snowman to .

Using black yarn, work 5 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.

Using C1, rep from to For Snowman.

Using flesh colour yarn for rem, rep from 33rd row of Snowman to end.

BEARD

Using 3.25mm needles and white yarn, cast on one st.

1st row (WS) - (K1, P1, K1) all in one st.

Working in garter st, inc one st at each end of every foll alt row until there are 15 sts, then in every foll 4th row until there are 19 sts.

Knit 3 rows garter st.

Cast off.

HAT

Using 3.25mm needles and M, cast on 25 sts.

1st row (WS) - Knit.

Work 6 rows stocking st, beg with a knit row.

8th row - (K2tog, K3) 5 times ... 20 sts.

Work 5 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.

14th row - (K2tog, K2) 5 times ... 15 sts.

Work 5 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.

20th row - (K2tog, K1) 5 times ... 10 sts.

Work 5 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.

26th row - (K2tog) 5 times ... 5 sts.

Break off yarn leaving a long end. Thread yarn through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.

Using mattress st, join side edges tog to form centre back seam.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress stitch, join side edges of santa tog to form centre back seam, matching colour changes and filling with polyfill as you go moulding to shape. Sew Hat and beard in position as pictured. Using black yarn, embroider eyes and nose as pictured. Using white yarn, make a small tassel through top of hat. Trim to desired length. Using 2 strands of white yarn, sew a running stitch around hat above edge as pictured. Attach a hanging thread in C1.
