INSTRUCTIONS

MOTIF A (MAKE 2)

Using 4.50mm hook and M, make 4ch, join with a sl st to form a ring.

1st round (RS) - 5ch (counts as 1tr, 2ch), (3tr in ring, 2ch) 3 times, 2tr in ring, sl st in 3rd ch at beg. Break off M.

Using C1, 2nd round - Sl st in next ch, 5ch (counts as 1tr, 2ch), 3tr in 2ch corner sp, 1ch, miss 3tr, (3tr, 2ch, 3tr) in next 2ch corner sp, rep from twice more, 1ch, miss 3tr, 2tr in 2ch corner sp at beg, sl st in 3rd ch of 5ch. Break off C1.

Using C2, 3rd round - Sl st in next ch, 5ch (counts as 1tr, 2ch), 3tr in 2ch corner sp, 1ch, miss 3tr, 3tr in next sp, 1ch, miss 3tr, (3tr, 2ch, 3tr) in next 2ch corner sp, rep from twice more, 1ch, miss 3tr, 3tr in next sp, 1ch, miss 3tr, 2tr in 2ch corner sp at beg, sl st in
3rd ch of 5ch. Break off C3.

Using M, 4th round - Sl st in next ch, 5ch (counts as 1tr, 2ch), 3tr in 2ch corner sp, (1ch, 3tr in next in next sp) to next 2ch corner sp, 1ch, miss 3tr, (3tr, 2ch, 3tr) in next 2ch corner sp, rep from twice more, (1ch, 3tr in next sp) to 2ch corner sp at beg, 2tr in 2ch corner sp at beg, sl st in 3rd of 5ch at beg. Fasten off.

Rep 4th round in stripes of 1 round C1, 1 round C2, 2 rounds M, 2 rounds C1, 4 rounds C2 and 2 rounds C1.

Fasten off.

MOTIF B

Using 4.50mm hook and M, make 4ch and join with a sl st to form a ring.

1st round (RS) - 5ch (counts as 1tr, 2ch), (3tr in ring, 2ch) 3 times, 2tr in ring, sl st in 3rd of 5ch at beg.

2nd round - Sl st in next ch, 7ch (counts as 1tr, 4ch), 2tr in corner sp, 1tr in each tr across side of square, 2tr in corner sp, 4ch, rep from twice more, 2tr in corner sp, 1tr in each tr across last side of square, 1tr in corner sp at beg, sl st in 3rd of 7th ch at beg � 4 groups of 7tr.

Rep 2nd round until motif measures same as Motif A, noting that there will be 4 more tr across each side of motif in each round.

Fasten off.

STRAP

Using a flat seam join 2 adjacent sides of first Motif A to 2 adjacent sides of Motif B, then join 2 adjacent sides of second Motif A to rem 2 adjacent sides of Motif B (thus forming sides and base of Bag).

With RS facing and using 4mm hook, join M into one top corner of Motif A. Make a length of chain 40cm long and taking care not to twist ch, join with a sl st in corresponding top corner of second Motif A.

1st round (RS) - 1ch, work in dc along first side of first motif A, then along first side of second motif A, back to beg of chain, taking care to keep work flat, then work 1dc in each ch to end, sl st in 1ch at beg.

2nd round - 1ch, 1dc in each dc to end, sl st in 1ch at beg. Rep 2nd round once. Fasten off.
Turn work around so that base of ch is facing. With RS facing, using 4mm hook and M, join yarn with a sl st in top corner of first motif A.

1st round (RS) - 1ch, 1dc in each base ch to second motif A, work in dc evenly along first side edge of first motif A, then along second side edge to 1ch at beg, sl st in 1ch at beg.

2nd round - 1ch, 1dc in each dc to end, sl st in 1ch at beg.
Rep 2nd round once. Fasten off.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Sew in ends.
