WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Hat

  • '4 Seasons' Pony 4ply 50g: 1 ball.
  • 1 pair 3.25mm knitting needles or size required to give correct tension.
  • 2 stitch holders.
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure.

 

Rug

  • '4 Seasons' 4ply 50g: 3 balls Main Colour (M), 2 balls 1st Contrast (C1) &2 balls 2nd Contrast (C2).
  • 3.00mm crochet hook or size needed for correct tension.
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure.

TENSION

27 sts and 42 rows to 10cm over moss st, using 3.25mm needles.

SPECIAL ABBREVIATION

tr below = 1tr in next st 2 rows below, enclosing 3ch of previous row.

INSTRUCTIONS

HAT

RIGHT EAR PIECE

Using 3.25mm needles, cast on 7 sts.

1st row (RS) - P1, (K1, P1) 3 times.

2nd row - Inc in first st, (K1, P1) twice, K1, inc in last st ... 9 sts.

3rd row - Inc in first st, P1, (K1, P1) 3 times, inc in last st ... 11 sts.

4th row - Inc in first st, (K1, P1) 4 times, K1, inc in last st ... 13 sts.

Cont in moss st and working extra sts into moss st, inc one st at each end of every row until there are 39 (45) sts.

Work 1 (0) row/s. Leave sts on a stitch holder.

LEFT EAR PIECE

Work as for Right Ear Piece.

MAIN PIECE

Using 3.25mm needles, cast on 6 sts and work across these sts thus - (P1, K1) 3 times, with RS facing, moss across 39 (45) sts from Left Ear Piece stitch-holder, turn, cast on 13 sts, turn, with RS facing, moss across 39 (45) sts from Right Ear Piece stitch-holder, turn, then cast on 6 sts ... 103 (115) sts.

Next row (WS) - P1, * K1, P1, rep from * to end.

Rep last row for moss st until work measures 10 (11) cm from beg of main piece, working last row on WS.

SHAPE CROWN

1st row (RS) - P1, * moss 3tog, moss 14 (16), rep from * to end ... 91 (103) sts.

Work 3 rows moss st.

5th row - P1, * moss 3tog, moss 12 (14), rep from * to end ... 79 (91) sts.

Work 3 rows moss st.

9th row - P1, * moss 3tog, moss 10 (12), rep from * to end ... 67 (79) sts.

10th row - Moss to end.

11th row - Knit

12th and foll alt rows - Purl.

13th row - K1, * K2tog, K9 (11), rep from * to end ... 61 (73) sts.

Break off yarn leaving a long end. Run end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st seam, join side edges together to form centre back seam.

BABY THROW

Using 3.00mm hook and C1, make 133ch.

Note - When changing colours, use new colour to work final lp of last st in old colour. Do not cut off colours - carry colour not in use loosely up side of work until needed again.

1st set up row - Miss 3 ch, 1tr in each of next 3 ch, * 3ch, miss 3 ch,1tr in each of next 3 ch, rep from * to last ch, 1tr in last ch.

Set up row 2: Using C2, 4ch, miss 4t r, * tr below in each of next 3 foundation ch, 3ch, miss 3 tr, rep from * to turning ch, sl st in turning ch.

BEG PATT

1st row - Using M, 3ch, * tr below in each of next 3 tr, 3ch, miss 3 tr, rep from * to last 4 sts, tr below in each of next 4 tr.

2nd row - Using C1, 4ch, miss 4 tr, * tr below in each of next 3t r, 3ch, miss 3 tr, rep from *The information

3rd row - Using C2, as row 1.

Cont in patt until work measures approx 66cm from beg, ending with a 3rd row. Fasten off C1 and C2.

Next row - Using M, 1ch, 1dc in each of 1st 4 tr, * tr below in each of next 3 tr, 1dc in each of next 3 tr, rep from * to last st, 1dc in turning ch, do not fasten off.

WORK BORDERS

Work 2 rows tr along same short edge, inc and dec if necessary to keep work flat. Fasten off.

Using M, work 2 rows tr along other short edge, inc and dec if necessary to keep work flat. Fasten off.

Using M, work 1 row dc evenly along one long side of Throw (working over carried yarn skips).

Fasten off. Rep for other long side.
