The Plain 150 cm Stretch Velour Fabric is a stunning choice if your garment project calls for shine, stretch and smooth texture. Velour is ideal for casual pants, skirts, tanks, t-shirts, dresses, cardigans - you could even make a coordinated tracksuit! Velour has a similar appearance to velvet - it is soft and plush. This particular velour has an added stretch element - ensure your pattern or project calls for stretch velour. Because this fabric is offered in a variety of colours, it's a great choice if you're looking to add a colour-blocking element to your garments. This material is composed of 95% polyester and 5% elastane and supplied in a 150 cm width. Spotlight has a fabulous range of velour fabrics for all your apparel creating needs. Additional Information
Pre-wash, dry and flatten your fabric prior to sewing.
Use patterns that call for stretch velour, and have simple lines and less tricky details.
Ensure your pattern and stretch percentage align - if your fabric has less stretch, consider sizing up.
Due to the way the pile is cut, it is important to keep pattern pieces running in the same direction when sewing, otherwise shadowing will be created in your finished garment.
Ideally, the nap should run down your pattern.
Rub your hand across the fabric to identify nap direction, the nap lays down smooth in the direction of the nap.
Ensure to relax your fabric when sewing.
A fine, sharp needle and fine thread should be used when sewing velour.
A roller or walking foot may be beneficial for sewing velour.
Finish raw edges with a serger stitch or encased binding as pile may shed.
Finished garments should be washed inside out prior to wearing.
