WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Fabrics are from 'Tone on Tone 10' range

  • 1 x Flat Fat Fabric A - Spackle, Black
  • 1 x Flat Fat Fabric B - Ivy, Black
  • 1 x Flat Fat Fabric C - Star, Black
  • 1 x Flat Fat Fabric D - X-Stitch, Black
  • 1 x Flat Fat Fabric E- Cloud, Black
  • 1 x Flat Fat Fabric F - Sprinkles, Black
  • 1 x Flat Fat Fabric G - Clam Shell, Black
  • 3 x Flat Fat Fabric H - Muslin, Black (includes binding)
  • 90cm Prima Homespun, white
  • 1.4m Prima Homespun, black or Backing fabric of choice
  • 1.1m Cotton/bamboo batting
  • Matching Gutermann 100% cotton thread
  • Rotary cutter, mat & quilters rulers
  • Quilting pins, tape measure
  • Scissors, seam ripper
  • Hand needle
  • Sewing machine with 1/4" foot and walking foot

INSTRUCTIONS

Quilt measures: 361/2" x 451/2" (93cm x 116cm)

All fabrics should be 100% cotton, washed & pressed.

1/4" seam allowance used throughout unless otherwise indicated.

Read all instructions carefully before commencing the quilt.

Cutting

All strips are cut across the width of fabric unless otherwise stated.

  • From each of the Flat Fat Fabrics A, B, C, D, E F, G & H cut 2 x 5?" strips (16 strips in total) crosscut strips into 5?" squares, for a total of 5 x 5?" squares in each fabric. Cut each square once on the diagonal to make half-square triangles, 10 half-square triangles in each fabric.
  • From white homespun cut 6 x 5?" strips, crosscut strips into 40 x 5?" squares, cut once on the diagonal to make 80 half-square triangles.
  • Cut binding fabric into 10 x 21/2" strips.

Half-square triangle units

  1. Sew one white homespun half-square triangle to each Tone on Tone half-square triangle to make 80 half-square triangle units. Press seams towards the Tone on Tone fabric.

ROWS

  1. Lay out 8 half-square triangle units as shown in diagram and sew together to make Row 1. Press seams in one direction.
  1. Lay out another 8 half-square triangle units as shown in diagram and sew together to make Row 2. Press seams in opposite direction to Row 1.
  1. Lay out another 8 half-square triangle units as shown in diagram and sew together to make Row 3. Press seams in same direction as Row 1.
  1. Lay out another 10 half-square triangle units as shown in diagram and sew together to make Row 4. Press seams in same direction as Row 2.
  1. Lay out another 10 half-square triangle units as shown in diagram and sew together to make Row 5. Press seams in same direction as Row 1.
  1. Lay out another 10 half-square triangle units as shown in diagram and sew together to make Row 6. Press seams in same direction as Row 2.
  1. Lay out another 10 half-square triangle units as shown in diagram and sew together to make Row 7. Press seams in same direction as Row 1.
  1. Lay out another 10 half-square triangle units as shown in diagram and sew together to make Row 8. Press seams in same direction as Row 2.
  1. Lay out another 10 half-square triangle units as shown in diagram and sew together to make Row 9. Press seams in same direction as Row 1.
  1. Lay out another 10 half-square triangle units as shown in diagram and sew together to make Row 10. Press seams in same direction as Row 2.

QUILT TOP

  1. Sew rows together and press seams in one direction.
  1. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top and baste together. Quilt as desired.
  1. Join the 10 x 21/2" binding strips together on the bias to make one long strip. Press in half lengthwise and bind mitering corners. Attach a label or sign and date your quilt.
