LOTUS PAINTING
LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Semco Single Stretch Canvas 10x12 in
- Jo Sonja Paints in Aqua, Titanium White, Pale Gold, Pine Green, Rose Pink & Brilliant Magenta
- Paint Brushes
- Black fineliner pen
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 - Start by sketching a base image using pencil, you can use a reference image or draw from memory
Step 2 - Begin by painting the background, we mixed Titanium White and Aqua to get a light blue paint. Let the background dry first before painting the lotus and lotus pads.
Step 3 - For the lotus pads, we mixed Titanium White with Pine Green to get different shades of green, you can go a step further and mix in Aqua to adjust the tones for a variety of colours.
Step 4 - For the lotus, we mixed Titanium White with Rose Pink and Brilliant Magenta to achieve multiple shades of pink. This will give the lotus petals shade and depth. For the centre, we used Pale Gold.
Step 5 - We recommend going back with more paint to clean up smudges or lines.
Step 6 - Let the painting dry for a day, we then used a black fine liner pen to outline the shapes to make it stand out more.
