WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Width at top (approx) 220 cms/86 ins
Depth in centre (approx) 65 cms/26 ins
15 sts and 20 rows to 10 cms/4 ins over stocking st, using 6.50mm (US 10 1/2), (UK 3) Knitting Needles.
Note - Correct tension/gauge is essential for a successful handknit.
St/s - stitch/es, K - Knit, P - Purl, RS - right side, WS - wrong side, beg - begin/ning, cont - continue, stocking st - 1 row K, 1 row P, garter st - every row knit, M1 - make one st, by picking up loop that lies before next st and place on left hand needle, knit or purl into back of loop.
Using pair 6.50mm (US 10 1/2), (UK 3) Needles, cast on 5 sts, placing a marker on 3rd st - move marker as you knit.
1st row (WS) - Knit.
2nd row (RS) - K1, (M1 knitways, K1) 4 times = 9 sts.
3rd row - K2, M1 purlways, purl to last 2 sts, K2 = 10 sts.
4th row - K2, M1 knitways, knit to marker, M1 knitways,
K1 (marker st), M1 knitways, knit to last 2 sts, M1 knitways, K2 = 14 sts.
Rep 3rd and 4th rows until there are 330 sts, noting when sts become uncomfortable on pair of needles to use circular needle - work in rows not rounds. Knit 2 rows garter st. Cast off loosely knitways.
DO NOT PRESS. Using yarn needle, darn in ends towards centre of scarf.
