Quantities are approximate as they vary between knitters.

  • One pair each 10mm and 12mm knitting needles, or sizes required to give correct tension.
  • A yarn needle.
  • 2 stitch-holders


MEASUREMENTS

To Fit Bust cm: 75-80 (Size S), 85-90 (Size M), 95-100 (Size L), 105-110 (Size XL)
Actual Size cm: 95 (Size S), 105 (Size M), 115 (Size L), 125 (Size XL)
Length cm: 60 (Size S), 61 (Size M), 62 (Size L), 63 (Size XL)
Sleeve Fits cm: 43 (Size S), 43 (Size M), 43 (Size L), 43 (Size XL)

TENSION

7.5 sts and 12 rows to 10cm over garter st, using 12mm needles. To work a 15cm x 15cm tension square, using 12mm needles, cast on 12 sts loosely. Knit 18 rows garter st. Cast off loosely.

Check your tension carefully. If there are less sts to 10cm use smaller needles, if more sts use bigger needles.

INSTRUCTIONS

BACK

Using 12mm needles, cast on 37 (41-45-49) sts loosely.

Beg Lower Band -

1st row (RS) - K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to last st, K1.

2nd row - K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.

Last 2 rows form rib. Work a further 4 rows rib ... 6 rows rib in all. Knit in garter st, until work measures 37cm from beg, working last row on WS.

Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg of armholes as there is no armhole shaping. **

Cont in garter st, until armholes measure 22 (23-24-25) cm from coloured threads, working last row on WS.

Shape Shoulders -

Cast off 4 (5-5-6) sts loosely at beg of next 4 rows, then 5 (5-6-6) sts at beg of foll 2 rows. Leave rem 11 (11-13-13) sts on a stitch-holder for neckband.

FRONT

Work as for Back to **.

Cont in garter st until there are 6 (6-8-8) rows less than Back to beg of shoulder shaping, thus ending working last row on WS.

Shape Neck -

1st row (RS) - K15 (17-19-21),turn.

Cont on these 15 (17-19-21) sts for left side of front neck. *** Dec one st at neck edge in every foll alt row 2 (2-3-3) times ... 13 (15-16-18) sts.

Work 1 row.

Shape Shoulder -

Cast off 4 (5-5-6) sts loosely at beg of next row, then in foll alt row. Cast off rem 5 (5-6-6) sts loosely. ***Slip next 7 sts onto stitch-holder and leave for neckband. Rep from *** to ***, working 1 more row before shoulder shaping.

SLEEVES

Using 12mm needles, cast on 17 (19-19-21) sts loosely.

Beg Cuff -

Work 6 rows rib as for lower band of Back. Knit 2 rows garter st.

3rd row (RS) - K1, M1, knit to last 2 sts, M1, K2 ... 19 (21-21-23) sts.

Cont in garter st, inc one st at each end (as before) at each end of every foll 4th row until there are 25 (27-33-35) sts, then in every foll 6th row until there are 33 (35-37-39) sts.Cont in garter st without shaping, until Sleeve measures 43cm from beg, working last row on WS.

Cast off 5 (6-6-7) sts loosely at beg of next 4 rows. Cast off rem 13 (11-13-11) sts loosely.

NECK EDGING

Using half mattress st, join right shoulder seam. With RS facing and using 12mm needles, knit up 8 (8-10-10) sts evenly along left side of front neck, knit across 7 sts from front stitch-holder, knit up 8 (8-10-10) sts evenly along right side of neck, then knit across 11 (11-13-13) sts from back stitch-holder - dec one st in centre ... 33 (33-39-39) sts. Work 7 rows rib as for lower band of Back, beg with a 2nd row. Cast off loosely in rib.

TO MAKE UP

DO NOT PRESS. Using half mattress st, join left shoulder and neckband seam. Sew in sleeves evenly between coloured threads, placing centre of sleeves to shoulder seams. Join side and sleeve seams.
