WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Length (approx) 140 cm
Two 36-hole straight pieces, two 12-hole straight pieces and two 10-hole U-shaped pieces, or two 28-hole circular pieces.
Clip a 36-hole and 12-hole piece together, then clip in corner piece, repeat for other side. Clip these two pieces together to form a rectangle, ensuring that the grooved pegs are facing out. If using circular pieces, clip these two pieces together.
Note: Circular pieces are worked the same way as the straight pieces.
Make a slip knot and wrap it around an empty pin to hold the yarn in place.
Working from right to left wrap yarn ant-clockwise around the first peg, then wrap it anti-clockwise around the next and every other peg until the required number of stitches has been cast on (refer to fig 1).
Securing the working yarn by holding it or wrapping it around an empty peg.
Push all the loops to the bottom of the pegs. Cast on completed.
Working back along the loom (from left to right) wrap yarn clockwise around the peg to the right if the last peg (Refer Fig 2).
Continue wrapping clockwise until all the pegs (which have been casted on) have been worked.
Note: the first peg will only have one loop. Secure the working yarn by holding it or securing it around an empty peg.
Using the hook, lift the bottom loop over the top loop (one stitch knitted), continue along each peg until all pegs with 2 loops have been knitted (Refer Fig 3).
Push all loops to the bottom of the pegs. One row knitted.
* Knit the second stitch. Move this stitch onto the top of the first stitch, and knit it (ie. Lift the bottom loop over the top). Knit this stitch (ie, wrap yarn around and lift the bottom loop over the top).
Move this stitch to the second peg position. This stitch will now become the first stitch.
Continue working from * until all stitches have been casted off and you are left with one stitch. Thread the working yarn through this stitch and full tight. Cut yarn leaving enough yarn to sew seams.
INSTRUCTIONS (make 16)
Make 6 in C1, 5 in C2 and 5 in C3. Using 45 pegs of the loom, cast on stitches. Continue knitting until 76 rows have been knitted. do not forget to remove your slip knot from the peg after doing a couple of rows and pull it through the loom to the bottom. Cast off.
