INSTRUCTIONS

FRONT

Using 5mm needles, cast on 98 (106-114-122) sts.

Knit 2 rows garter st (1st row is RS).

Beg Box St - 1st row (RS) - K2, P2, K2, rep from to end.

2nd row - P2, K2, P2, rep from to end.

3rd row - P2, K2, P2, rep from to end.

4th row - K2, P2, K2, rep from to end.

Rows 1 to 4 incl form box st patt.

Cont in patt until work measures 18 (19-20-21) cm from beg, working last row on WS.

Next row - Knit, dec 12 sts evenly � 86 (94-102-110) sts.

Knit 3 rows garter st.

Next row - K1, K2tog, yfwd, rep from to last st, K1.

Next row - Purl.

Beg Box St - Work in box st patt (as before) until work measures 39 (40-41-42) cm from beg, working last row on WS.

Shape Armholes - Keeping patt correct, cast off 4 sts at beg of next 4 rows � 70 (78-86-94) sts.

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 (4-6-8) rows � 66 (70-74-78) sts.

Dec one st at each end of next row, then in every foll alt row until 62 (64-66-68) sts rem.

Cont without shaping until armoles measure 11 (12-13-14) cm, working last row on WS.

Shape Neck - Next row (RS) - Patt 24 (25-25-26), turn.

Cont on these 24 (25-25-26) sts and dec one st at neck edge in every foll alt row until 17 (18-18-19) sts rem.

Work 11 (13-13-13) rows patt. Cast off rem sts for shoulder.

Slip next 14 (14-16-16) sts onto stitch-holder and leave.

With RS facing, join yarn to rem sts and patt to end.

BACK

Work as for Front to .

Work a further 20 (22-22-22) rows patt.

Shape Back Neck - Next row (RS) - Patt 18 (19-19-20), turn.

Cont on these 18 (19-19-20) sts and dec one st at neck edge in foll alt row � 17 (18-18-19) sts.

Work 3 rows. Cast off rem sts for shoulder.

Slip next 26 (26-28-28) sts onto a stitch-holder and leave.

With RS facing, join yarn to rem 18 (19-19-20) sts and complete to correspond with other side of neck.

CUFFS FOR SLEEVES

1st Layer - Using 5mm needles, cast on 84 (86-88-90) sts.

Knit 2 rows garter st (1st row is RS).

Work 4 rows stocking st (beg with a knit row).

Cont in stocking st, dec one st at each end of next row, then in every foll 3rd row until 48 (50-52-54) sts rem.

Cont without shaping until work measures 28 cm from beg, ending with a purl row.

Leave rem sts on a spare needle. Break off yarn.

2nd Layer - Work as for 1st Layer to .

Cont without shapng until work measure 23 cm from beg, ending with a purl row.

Leave sts on needle. Do not break off yarn.

SLEEVES

With RS facing, place 2nd Layer on top of 1st Layer and using 5mm needle, knit one st from 2nd Layer with one st from 1st Layer until all sts have been worked � 48 (50-52-54) sts.

Next row (WS) - Purl.

Cont in stocking st until work measures 31 cm from beg (including cuffs), ending with a purl row.

Cont in stocking st, inc one st at each end of every foll 4th (4th-alt-alt) row until there are 62 (66-70-74) sts.

Cont without shaping until work measures 45 (44-43-42) cm from beg (including cuffs), ending with a purl row.

Shape Top - Cast off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows � 54 (58-62-66) sts.

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows � 46 (50-54-58) sts.

Dec one st at each end of next row, then in every foll alt row until 32 (34-36-38) sts rem.

Work 1 row.

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 10 (12-12-14) rows, then 3 sts at beg of foll 2 rows.

Cast off rem 6 (4-6-4) sts.

NECKBAND

Using mattress st, join right shoulder seam. With RS facing and using 5mm needles, knit up 80 (82-82-84) sts evenly along neck, including sts from stitch-holders.

Work 7 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.

Cast off loosely.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st, join left shoulder and using a flat seam, join neckband seam. Join side seams. Join Sleeve seams, sewing the layers separately. Sew in Sleeves.

Drawstring - Using 4.50mm hook, make a length of chain approx 170 (180-190-200) cm, turn and sl st in each ch to end.

Thread drawstring through eyelet holes on Back and Front, beg and ending at centre front. Draw up to fit.
