BEACH HOUSE RAFFIA PLACEMATS

Beach House Raffia Placemats Project

LEVEL: EASY

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Moda Vera Beach House Raffia, 35G in various colours
  • Plastic Mesh 10 count or Plastic Mesh 7 count
  • Tape
  • Marker
  • Large embroidery needle optional

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1. Cut plastic mesh canvas sheet into an oval shape.

Step 2. Wrap the edges of the oval with raffia. I wrapped a small piece of tape around the end of the raffia to keep it from fraying.

Step 3. Starting in the center, begin creating lines on the canvas to create a chevron pattern. Make the pattern as large as you want. You can count the holes or use a marker to draw out your pattern on the plastic.

Step 4. When starting and ending a string of raffia, leave a tail that you can tuck in. Tying the raffia is unsightly, and this helps create a more seamless appearance.

Step 5. Complete each row and then change colour repeating the process until the whole mat is covered.
