HEART FLOWER SHAPE CUSHIONS

Heart Flower Shape Cushions Project

Level: Easy

What you'll need:

  • 5m of Faux Fur Fabric
  • Hobby fill x 1 - 3 bags (depending on how firm you would like your pillows). In this project, we used 2 bags.
  • Thread
  • Sewing machine
  • Scissors
  • Sewing needle
  • Pins
  • Pencil and Paper (a large piece of butcher's paper or newspaper will work)
  • Button for centre of daisy - optional

Instructions

Step 1- On a large piece of paper sketch yourself out a heart and daisy shape making sure you allow for a 1.5cm seam allowance around the outside of each shape. This will be your cushion template!

Tip - If you are beginner start with the heart as it is a simple shape! On the Daisy add more or less petals depending on how confident you are!

Step 2 - Fold your fabric over with the right sides together towards the selvage, place the template down, pin and cut around the template. You now have two daisy or heart shaped fabric pieces!

Step 3 - Place both with right sides together and pin along the outer edges, leaving a 6cm opening on one side. Sew around the outer edge with a 1.5cm seam allowance. Backstitch the beginning and end.

Step 4 - Cut a small notch into the center dip of the petals or the heart, this will prevent bulk when turning right sides out.

Step 5 - Turn the cushion right sides out though the 6cm opening.

Step 6 - Begin stuffing your cushion with hobby fill. The amount you will use will depend on your liking of firmness for pillows. Push the filling far into the pillow so the opening can be pinned and sewn close. Either machine or hand sew.

Tip - If you are adding a button to the center of your daisy cushion, hand sew on to one side of your cushion before sewing together.
