WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 'Mondial' Van Gogh 100g x 4 (4-5-5) balls
  • One pair each 4mm and 3.50mm knitting needles, one each 4mm and 3.50mm circular needles (60-80cm long) or sizes required to give correct tension.
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

MEASUREMENTS

To Fit Bust (cm): 80-85 (size S), 90-95 (size M), 100-105 (size L), 110-115 (size XL)
Actual Size (approx) cm: 95 (size S), 105 (size M), 115 (size L), 125 (size XL)
Length (approx) cm: 56 (size S), 57 (size M), 58 (size L), 59 (size XL)

TENSIONS

22 sts and 37 rows to 10cm over patt, using 4mm needles.

INSTRUCTIONS

BACK AND FRONTS (worked sideways in one piece)

Using 4mm circular needle, cast on 232 (236-244-248) sts.

Note - Work in rows, not rounds.

Beg Patt - Work 4 rows stocking st (1 row K - RS, 1 row P - WS).

Knit 4 rows garter st ... 2 ridges.

Last 8 rows form patt.

Cont in patt until work measures approx 15 (17-19-21) cm from beg, ending with 3 rows of stocking st, thus ending with a knit row on RS.

Next row (WS) - Cast off next 116 (118-122-124) sts loosely purlways for Left Front, purl to end.

Cont in patt (beg with 4 rows of garter st) on these 116 (118-122-124) sts for back neck for approx a further 17.5 (18.5-19.5-20.5) cm, ending with 4 rows of garter st.

Next row (RS) - Knit.

Next row (WS) - Cast on 116 (118-122-124) sts purlways for Right Front, purl to end ... 232 (236-244-248) sts.

Work 2 rows stocking st.

Cont in patt (beg with 4 rows of garter st) until Right Front measures approx 15 (17-19-21) cm, ending with 4 rows of stocking st.

Cast off loosely.

SLEEVES

Using pair 3.50mm needles, cast on 90 (94-98-104) sts.

Knit 5 rows garter st (1st row is WS).

Change to pair 4mm needles.

Beg Patt - Work in patt as for Back and Fronts until work measures approx 32cm from beg, ending with 4 rows of garter st.

Next row - Knit.

Cast off loosely purlways.

BACK LOWER BAND

With RS facing and using pair 3.50mm needles, knit up 85 (95-107-117) sts evenly along lower edge of Back (side edge).

Knit 5 rows garter st. Cast off loosely knitways.

RIGHT FRONT LOWER BAND

With RS facing and using pair 3.50mm needles, knit up 33 (37-41-47) sts evenly along lower edge of Right Front (side edge).

Knit 5 rows garter st. Cast off loosely knitways.

LEFT FRONT LOWER BAND

Work to correspond with Right Front Lower Band.

FRONT BAND

With RS facing, using 3.50mm circular needle, knit up 123 (125-127-129) sts evenly along side edge of right front lower band and right front edge to sts cast off for back neck, 38 (40-42-44) sts evenly across cast off sts for back neck, then knit up 123 (125-127-129) sts evenly along left front edge and side edge of left front lower band ... 284 (290-296-302) sts.

1st row (WS) - Knit.

2nd row - K122 (124-126-128), K2tog, K36 (38-40-42) (incl st already on needle), K2tog, knit to end ... 282 (288-294-300) sts.

3rd row - K121 (123-125-127), K2tog, K36 (38-40-42), K2tog, knit to end ... 280 (286-292-298) sts.

4th row - K120 (122-124-126), K2tog, K36 (38-40-42), K2tog, knit to end ... 278 (284-290-296) sts.

5th row - K119 (121-123-125), K2tog, K36 (38-40-42), K2tog, knit to end ... 276 (282-288-294) sts.

Cast off loosely knitways.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Tie a coloured thread on side edges of Back, 35cm from lower edge, then a second coloured thread 35cm from lower edge of Fronts (distance between coloured threads should measures approx 41 (44-46-48) cm). Sew in sleeves evenly between coloured threads. Join side and sleeve seams.
