  • 'Abbey Road" Born To Be Wool 100g x 10 (11-12-13) balls.
  • 1 pair 15mm knitting needles or size required for correct tension
  • 2 stitch-holders
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

MEASUREMENT

To Fit Bust cm: 75/80 (Size S), 85/90 (Size M), 95/100 (Size L), 105/110 (Size XL)
Actual Size (approx at underarm) cm: 95 (Size S), 105 (Size M), 115 (Size L), 125 (Size XL)
Back Length To Shoulder (approx) cm: 75 (Size S), 76 (Size M), 77 (Size L), 78 (Size XL)
Front Length To Shoulder (approx) cm: 60 (Size S), 61 (Size M), 62 (Size L), 63 (Size XL)

TENSION

6 sts and 13 rows to 10cm over garter st, using 15mm needles.

INSTRUCTIONS

BACK

Using 15mm needles, cast on 33 (37-39-43) sts loosely. Knit in garter st (1st row is WS), until work measures 15cm from beg, working last row on WS.

Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row. Cont in garter st, dec one st at each end of 3rd row, then in foll 22nd row once ... 29 (33-35-39) sts. Cont in garter st until work measures 52cm from beg, working last row on WS.

Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg of armholes as there is no armhole shaping. Cont in garter st until armholes measures 23 (24-25-26) cm from second coloured threads, working last row on WS.

SHAPE SHOULDERS

Cast off 5 (6-6-7) sts loosely at beg of next 2 rows, then 5 (5-6-6) sts loosely at beg of foll 2 rows. Leave rem 9 (11-11-13) sts on a stitch-holder for collar.

FRONT

Using 15mm needles, cast on 33 (37-39-43) sts loosely. Knit in garter st (1st row is WS), dec one st at each end of 4th row, then in foll 22nd row once ... 29 (33-35-39) sts.

Cont in garter st until work measures 37cm from beg, working last row on WS. Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg of armholes. Cont in garter st until there are 8 (10-10-12) rows less than Back to beg of shoulder shaping, thus working last row on WS.

SHAPE NECK

1st row (RS) - K12 (14-15-17), turn. Cont on these 12 (14-15-17) sts for left side of front neck.

** Dec one st at neck edge in every foll alt row until 10 (11-12-13) sts rem. Knit 3 rows.

SHAPE SHOULDER

Cast off 5 (6-6-7) sts loosely at beg of next row. Knit 1 row. Cast off rem 5 (5-6-6) sts loosely. Slip next 5 sts onto stitch-holder and leave for collar. With RS facing, join yarn to rem sts at neck edge and knit to end. Cont on these 12 (14-15-17) sts for right side of front neck. Rep from ** to **, working 1 more row before shoulder shaping.

COLLAR

Using mattress st, join right shoulder seam. With RS facing and using 15mm needles, knit up 8 (10-10-12) sts evenly along left side of neck, knit across 5 sts from front stitch-holde, knit up 8 (10-10-12) sts evenly along right side of neck, then knit across 9 (11-11-13) sts from back stitch-holder ... 30 (36-36-42) sts. Knit in garter st until collar measures 20cm, working last row on WS. Cast off loosely.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st for left shoulder and a flat seam for collar, join left shoulder and collar seam. Using half mattress st, join side seams, matching Front to lower coloured threads of Back, noting that back will have 15cm free at lower edge. Turn collar to RS.
