INSTRUCTIONS

SMALL TREE DECORATION

Beg from top -

Using 4mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st round - 4ch (counts as 1tr, 1ch throughout), (2tr, 1ch, 1tr) in ring, sl st into 3rd of 4ch at beg, tighten ring.

2nd round - Sl st into next 1ch sp, 4ch, (2tr, 1ch) in same sp, miss next 2 sts, (2tr, 1ch, 2tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 2 sts, 1tr in same sp as 4ch at beg, sl st into 3rd of 4ch at beg.

3rd round - Sl st into next 1ch sp, 4ch, miss next 2 sts, * (3tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 2 sts, rep from * to sp at beg, 2tr in same sp as 4ch at beg, sl st into 3rd of 4ch at beg.

4th round - Sl st into next 1ch sp, 4ch, (3tr, 1ch) in same sp, miss next 3 sts, (3tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 3 sts, (3tr, 1ch, 3tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 3 sts, (3tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 3sts, 2tr in same sp as 4ch at beg, sl st into 3rd of 4ch at beg.

5th round - Sl st into next 1ch sp, 4ch, miss next 3 sts, * (3tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 3 sts, rep from * to sp at beg, 2tr in same sp as 4ch at beg, sl st into 3rd of 4ch at beg.

6th round - Sl st into next 1ch sp, 4ch, (3tr, 1ch) in same sp, miss next 3 sts, * [(3tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 3 sts] twice, ** (3tr, 1ch, 3tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 3 sts, rep from * to ** once, 2tr in same sp as 4ch at beg, sl st into 3rd of 4ch at beg.

7th round - Rep 5th round.

8th round - Sl st into next 1ch sp, 4ch, (3tr, 1ch) in same sp, miss next 3 sts, * [(3tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 3 sts] three times, ** (3tr, 1ch, 3tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 3 sts, rep from * to ** once, 2tr in same sp as 4ch at beg, sl st into 3rd of 4ch at beg.

9th round - Rep 5th round.

Fasten off.

Beg Trunk -

Using 4mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st round - 1ch (does not count as a st), 6dc in ring, tighten ring. Cont in a spiral by working 1dc in each st until trunk measures approx 3cm. Sl st into next st. Fasten off.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Flatten tree and, using matching yarn and yarn needle, whip st bottom edge closed, catching top of trunk halfway along. Sew a loop of yarn at top of tree. Sew in ends.

LARGE TREE DECORATION

Using 4mm hook, work as for Small Tree Decoration to end of 9th round.

10th round - Sl st into next 1ch sp, 4ch, (3tr, 1ch) in same sp, miss next 3 sts, * [(3tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 3 sts] four times,** (3tr, 1ch, 3tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 3 sts, rep from * to ** once, 2tr in same sp as 4ch at beg, sl st into 3rd of 4ch at beg.

11th round - Rep 5th round.

12th round - Sl st into next 1ch sp, 4ch, (3tr, 1ch) in same sp, miss next 3 sts, * [(3tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 3 sts] five times,** (3tr, 1ch, 3tr, 1ch) in next 1ch sp, miss next 3 sts, rep from * to ** once, 2tr in same sp as 4ch at beg, sl st into 3rd of 4ch at beg.

13th round - Rep 5th round.

Fasten off.

Beg Trunk -

Work as for Trunk of Small Tree Decoration until trunk measures 4cm.

FINISHING

Work as for Small Tree Decoration.

SMALL STANDING TREE

Work as for Small Tree Decoration, to beg of trunk. Set aside.

Beg Base -

Using 4mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st round - 2ch (counts as 1htr throughout), 9htr in ring, sl st into 2nd of 2ch st beg, tighten ring ... 10 sts.

2nd round - 2ch, 1htr in same st, 2htr in each st around, sl st into 2nd of 2ch at beg ... 20 sts.

3rd round - 2ch, 1htr in same st, 2htr in each st around, sl st into 2nd of 2ch at beg ... 40 sts.

Fasten off.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using matching yarn and yarn needle, whip st tree to base. Sew in ends.

LARGE STANDING TREE

Work as for Large Tree Decoration, to beg of trunk. Set aside.

Beg Base -

Using 4mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st round - 2ch (counts as htr throughout), 6htr in ring, sl st into 2nd of 2ch at beg, tighten ring ... 7 sts.

2nd round - 2ch, 1htr in same st, 2htr in each st around, sl st into 2nd of 2ch at beg ... 14 sts.

3rd round - 3ch (counts as tr throughout), 1tr in same st, 2tr in each st around, sl st into 3rd of 3ch at beg ... 28 sts.

4th round - 2ch, 1htr in same st, 1htr in next st, * 2htr in next st, 1htr in next st, rep from * around, sl st into 2nd of 2ch at beg ... 42 sts.

5th round - 3ch, 1tr in same st, 1tr in each of next 2 sts, * 2tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around, sl st into 3rd of 3ch at beg ... 56 sts.

Fasten off.

FINISHING
