LARGE 3D QUILTED STAR
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- 2m each of Christmas quilting fabrics
- Card board
- Sewing machine and matching thread
- Double sided tape or hot glue gun with glue sticks
Read all instructions carefully before commencing the project.
Step 1 - Start by drawing out template onto card using the below template/measurements.
Step 2 - Trace and cut out the template out of each fabric 5 times, you will end up with 10 pieces in total.
Step 3 - Match the fabric pieces so you have 1 of each pattern for each star point. You will end up with 5 pairs of triangle pieces.
Step 4 - With right sides facing in, pin each paired triangle together along the long edge. Sew together with a 1cm seam allowance. Repeat with the other 4 pairs of fabric.
Step 5 - Press the seam open and flat with an iron.
Step 6 - Cut 1cm off the long side of the original template (this removes the seam allowance needed for the fabric pieces) and
trace the template out onto card with the long edge on the fold. Trace and cut out 5 of these.
Step 7 - Use double sided tape to stick the pieces of fabric onto the card pieces. Ensure that the seam of the fabric and the folded seam of the cardboard matches, this will help when folding.
Step 8 - Fold each fabric card piece following the diagram below. You will end up with 5 star points.
