SECRET LOVE NOTE COOKIES

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 - Preheat your oven to 180degrees FF. Make your cookie dough using your favourite sugar cookie recipe. To make the cookies extra special, you can tint the dough by adding some pink food dye!

Step 2 - Place the cookie dough between 2 pieces of baking paper and using the rolling pin, roll out your cookie dough to roughly 5mm thick. Each cookie is made up of 3 larger hearts. Cut out your heart shapes with the cookie cutters, I have used the largest shape. On the third heart shape leave the large cookie cutter in and then use a smaller cutter to hollow out the space for your love note. Leaving the cookie cutter in the dough makes it easier to move the cookie onto the baking tray as it can break easily. Place all the cookies on some baking paper and bake on a baking tray in the oven for roughly 12-15 minutes depending on your cookie recipe.

Step 3 - While your cookies are cooling, spread some corn flour onto your bench surface and roll out the fondant to 4-5mm thickness. Use the large heart cutter to cut out your heart shape from the fondant, and give it a little wiggle so it comes out nice and neat. To attach the fondant to your cookie, use a brush and apply a small amount of water to the back of your fondant heart. Place it on top of the cookie and gently press down to stick together.

Step 4 - Spell out the words BREAK ME using the letter press set. Remember to write the word backwards so that it will read the right way once it's been pressed. Press into the fondant to imprint the words.

Step 5 - Mix some gold dust with a small amount of clear alcohol to create a gold paint. Use the paint brush to paint a gold brush stroke across one of the top corners.

Step 6 - Place the candy melts in a microwave safe bowl and put them in the microwave for 30 seconds burst until they are completely melted. Place into a piping bag and snip the end of the bag with scissors. Drizzle a zig zag pattern onto the cookies and then spread little sprinkles onto the melts so that they stick in place.

Step 7 - Write your "love note" onto a piece of paper using a pen and set aside.

Step 8 - It's now time to assemble the cookie. Glue base heart, middle section of cookie together with candy melts. Add in your "love note" & as many sprinkles you can fit into the centre of the cookie. Then stick the decorated cookie on top using candy melts to seal shut.

Step 9 - Once cookies are set they are ready to gift to your Valentine or Galantine! Enjoy!
