Superwash Geometric Throw Project

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • 23 balls Superwash Merino 8ply (13 main colour, 2 balls each 5 contrast colours)
  • 6mm Crochet Hook
  • Scissors & needle for sewing, stitch markers

sp= space,lp= loop,st= stitch,ch= chain,beg= beginning,slst= slipstitch,dc= double crochet,htr= half treble,mc= main colour,cc= contrast colour

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS

fdc= foundation row worked in dc - 2 ch, pull up lp in 1st ch, * yoh, pull through 1 lp [ch made], yoh, pull through both lps [dc made], pull up lp in ch made, and repeat from* for each foundation
st required.flps = work stitch into 2 front loops of htr(foremost loops - see illustration below)

Special notes: For best results, change colour by pulling the new colour through the last 3 loops of the htr when finishing the stitch before. You carry the unused colour of yarn across, working it in with each htr, not only to hide the colour but also this means that the next colour will be ready to use when you need it.

With mc and 6mm hook, work 137 fdc.

Row 4: 1ch, 1htrflps in next 137 sts, turn
Row 5: 1ch, 1htr in next 137 sts, turn. Start working in contrast colours,
Row 6: with mc 1ch, 1htr in next 6sts, (cc 1htrflps in next 5 sts, mc 1htrflps in next 5 sts,) 13 times, mc 1htrflps in next st, turn
Row 7: with mc 1ch, 1htr in next 6sts, (cc 1htr in next 5 sts, mc 1htr in next 5 sts,) 13 times, mc 1htr in next st, turn. Repeat rows 6 & 7 once,
Row 10: with mc 1ch, 1htr in next 11sts (cc1 1htrflps in next 5 sts, mc 1htrflps in next 5 sts,) 12 times, mc 1htrflps in next 6sts, turn
Row 11: with mc 1ch, 1htr in next 11sts (cc1 1htr in next 5 sts, mc 1htr in next 5 sts,) 12 times, mc 1htr in next 6sts, turn. Repeat rows 10 & 11 once,

Row 24: with mc 1ch, 1htr in next 137sts turn
Row 25: with mc 1ch, 1htr in next 137sts. Repeat rows 24 & 25 once, Rows 6 to 27 form pattern, repeat pattern 3 more times. Finishing row with mc work 1dc in each st to end of row, turn

BORDER:

(worked in mc)
Row 1: 1ch 2htr in next st, 1htr in each st to last st, 3 htrs in last st, turn work sideways and work a row of htrs evenly down the side, 3htrs into next cnr, 1htr in each st along bottom of throw, 3htrs in next cnr, turn work sideways and work a row of htrs evenly back up the other side, finishing with 1htr into 1st st slst into 1st htr. For last two rows, each htr is now worked into the middle loop only of the three loops at the top of the htr.
Row 2 & 3: 1ch 2htrs in same st at slst, (1htr in each st to cnr, 3htrs in cnr st,) 3 times, 1htr in each st to end, 1htr in 1st st, slst into 1st htr. Finish off and sew in all ends.
