STALLION 8PLY PATCHWORK BLANKET

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- '4 Seasons' Stallion 8 Ply 100g: 1 ball 1st Colour (C1-white), 1 ball 2nd Colour (C2-cream), 1 ball 3rd Colour (C3-brown) &1 ball 4th Colour (C4-charcoal).
- A pair 4mm knitting needles or size required to give correct tension.
- Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure.

TENSION
22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 4mm needles.
INSTRUCTIONS
SQUARE 1 (make 2 in C1 and 1 in each of C2, C3, C4 = 5 squares)
Using 4mm needles, cast on 31 sts.
1st row (RS) - P1, * K5, P5, rep from * to end.
2nd row - K4, * P5, K5, rep from * to last 7 sts, P5, K2.
3rd row - P3, * K5, P5, rep from * to last 8 sts, K5, P3.
4th row - K2, * P5, K5, rep from * to last 9 sts, P5, K4.
5th row - * P5, K5, rep from * to last st, P1.
6th row - As 5th row.
Rows 1 to 6 incl form patt.
Cont in patt until work measures approx 15cm from beg, ending with a 6th row. Cast off loosely.
SQUARE 2 (make 2 in C2 and 1 in each of C1, C3, C4 = 5 squares) Using 4mm needles, cast on 31 sts.
1st row (RS) - Knit
2nd row - Knit.
3rd row - P1, * K1, P1, rep from * to end.
4th row - K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.
5th row - Knit
6th row - Knit.
7th row - As 4th row.
8th row - As 3rd row.
Rows 1 to 8 incl form patt.
Cont in patt until work measures approx 15cm from beg, ending with a 2nd or 6th row. Cast off loosely.
SQUARE 3 (make 2 in C3 and 1 in each of C1, C2, C4 = 5 squares)
Using 4mm needles, cast on 32 sts.
1st row (RS) - K1, * K5, P5, rep from * to last st, K1.
Rep 1st row 3 times more.
5th row - P1, * P5, K5, rep from * to last st, P1.
Rep 1st row 3 times more.
Last 8 rows form patt.
Cont in patt until work measures approx 15cm from beg, ending with a 4th or 8th row. Cast off loosely.
SQUARE 4 (make 2 in C4 and 1 in each of C1, C2, C3 = 5 squares)
Using 4mm needles, cast on 34 sts.
1st row (RS) - K2, * P2, K2, rep from * to end.
2nd row - P2, * K2, P2, rep from * to end.
3rd row - As 2nd row.
4th row - As 1st row.
Rows 1 to 4 incl form patt.
Cont in patt until work measures approx 15cm from beg, ending with a 2nd or 4th row. Cast off loosely.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Sew in all ends. Using a flat seam, join squares together randomly, turning squares so that patterns face in different directions as pictured and having 4 squares x 5 squares.
Lower and Upper Borders - With RS facing, using 4mm needles and C4, knit up 95 sts evenly along lower edge.
Knit in garter st for 3.5cm, working last row on WS. Cast off loosely knitways.
Work upper border in same manner.
Side Borders - With RS facing, using 4mm needles and C4, knit up 150 sts evenly along one side edge of squares and lower and upper border.
Knit in garter st for 3.5cm, working last row on WS. Cast off loosely.
Work other side edge in same manner. Sew in ends.
