Can I purchase wedding table ware at Spotlight?

Yes, you can. This collection of table ware and decorations is ideal if you are organising an engagement party, wedding ceremony or anniversary event. Take a look through the items on offer to be inspired about table and room decorations, favours, decorative signs and other items to dress up your venue in style.

What is included in the range?

There are many different items in this collection, from pretty flower petals to decorate your tables or to be strewn in the path of the special couple, to tulle for decorative swags, cake toppers and favour packaging including boxes and organza bags. You can also find banners and garlands here, as well as small and large blackboard-type signs that are ideal for everything from directional signs to place settings.

What are wedding favours and why do we have them?

Wedding favours are small gifts given as a gesture of appreciation or gratitude to guests from the bride and groom during a wedding ceremony or a wedding reception. The tradition of distributing wedding favours is a very old one. It is believed that the first wedding favours, known as bonbonnieres, were used by European aristocrats. These were small trinket boxes made of crystal, porcelain, and/or precious stones.

The contents of these precious boxes were generally sugar cubes (an expensive commodity then) or delicate confections symbolising wealth and royalty.

As sugar became more affordable, bonbonnieres were replaced with almonds, and later again by sugared almonds. Traditionally, five almonds are presented in a confection box or wrapped in elegant fabric to represent fertility, longevity, wealth, health and happiness.

Today, all types of small gifts for guests are commonly known as wedding favours. Classic favours can range from sugared almonds or individual chocolates to candles and scented soaps. Modern gift trends include: CDs with the favourite music of the bride and groom, shot glasses filled with coloured candy or silver picture frames with a photo of the couple. Gifts may also be personalized with the couple's names, initials or wedding date.

Does Spotlight sell other wedding decorations too?

Yes, as well as the items shown in this range, you can find many other decorative items and party wares which can be selected by colour (if you have a favourite colour scheme) or by theme. Tulle and organza fabrics are also available by the metre in our fabrics range, which may work out more economical if you have a large area to transform. Table centre pieces, room decorations such as balloons and garlands and many other items are also available here at Spotlight for your special event.
