Note: All fabrics should be 100% cotton, washed & pressed. 1/4" seam allowance used throughout unless otherwise indicated. Read all instructions carefully before commencing project.

INSTRUCTIONS

CUTTING

All strips are cut across the width of fabric unless otherwise stated.

From Fabric A cut:

  • 4 x 2 1/2" strips, crosscut strips into 21" lengths
  • 4 x 2 1/2" strips
  • 1 x 4 1/2" strip, crosscut into (12) 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" strips
  • 2 x 6 1/2" strips, crosscut into (24) 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" strips


From Fabric B cut:

  • 1 x 5 1/2" strip, crosscut into 1 x 5 1/2" square and one 1 1/2" x 21" strip
  • 1 x 2 1/2" strip, crosscut into (18) 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" strips
  • 2 x 1 1/2" strips
  • 4 x 2 1/2" strips for binding


From Fabric C cut:

  • 1 x 5 1/2" strip, crosscut into 1 x 5 1/2" square, one 1 1/2" x 21" strip and (8) 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" strips


From Fabric D cut:

  • 1 x 5 1/2" strip, crosscut into 1 x 5 1/2" square, one 1 1/2" x 21" strip and (4) 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" strips


From each of Fabrics E, F, G & H cut:

  • 1 x 5 1/2" strip, crosscut into 1 x 5 1/2" square


From Fabric I cut:

  • 1 x 5 1/2" strip, crosscut into 2 x 5 1/2" squares


From each of Fabrics J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R & S cut:

  • 1 x 5 1/2" strip, crosscut into 1 x 5 1/2" square


From Fabric T cut:

  • 1 x 5 1/2" strip, crosscut into 2 x 5 1/2" squares


From Fabrics U & V cut:

  • 1 x 5 1/2" strip, crosscut into 1 x 5 1/2" square


From Fabric W cut:

  • 1 x 5 1/2" strip, crosscut into 2 x 5 1/2" squares
    Cut Backing Fabric 44" x 44"


STRIP SETS

Step 1. Sew one 2 1/2" Fabric A strip to each side of one 1 1/2" Fabric B strip to make (1) ABA strip set (Fig. 1). Repeat to make a second ABA strip set from the 2 1/2" x 21" strips.

Step 2. Cut the ABA strip sets into (18) 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" ABA strips (Fig. 2).

Step 3. Sew one 2 1/2" x 21" Fabric A strip to each side of one 1 1/2" x 21" Fabric D strip lengthwise to make (1) ADA strip set.

Step 4. Cut the ADA strip set into (4) 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" ADA strips (Fig. 4).
Step 5. Sew one 2 1/2" x 21" Fabric A strip to each side of one 1 1/2" x 21" Fabric C strip to make one ACA strip set. Crosscut the ACA strip set into (8) 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" ACA strips (Fig. 3).

Step 6. Sew (2) 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" Fabric A strips, (5) 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" Fabric B strips and (4) 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" Fabric A strips together to make one ABA sashing strip (Fig. 5). Repeat to make a second ABA sashing strip.

Step 7. Sew (2) 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" Fabric A strips, (2) 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" Fabric C strips, (3) 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" Fabric B strips and (4) 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" Fabric A strips together to make one ACA sashing strip (Fig. 6). Repeat to make a second ACA sashing strip.

Step 8. Sew (2) 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" Fabric A strips, (2) 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" Fabric C strips, (2) 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" Fabric D strips, (1) 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" Fabric B strips and (4) 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" Fabric A strips together to make one ADA sashing strip (Fig. 7). Repeat to make a second ADA sashing strip.

QUILT TOP ASSEMBLY

(Refer to quilt layout while assembling)

Step 9. Sew (2) ABA strips, (4) ACA strips, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric E square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric F square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric G square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric H square and (1) 5 1/2" Fabric W square together to make Row One.

Step 10. Sew (4) ABA strips, (2) ADA strips, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric I square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric B square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric T square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric J square and (1) 5 1/2" Fabric K square together to make Row Two.

Step 11. Sew (6)) ABA strips, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric D square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric L square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric C square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric M square and (1) 5 1/2" Fabric I square together to make Row Three.

Step 12. Sew (4) ABA strips, (2) ADA strips, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric N square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric O square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric V square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric W square and (1) 5 1/2" Fabric P square together to make Row Four.

Step 13. Sew (2) ABA strips, (4) ACA strips, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric Q square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric U square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric R square, (1) 5 1/2" Fabric T square and (1) 5 1/2" Fabric S square together to make Row Five.

Step 14. Sew the six sashing strips and five rows, in numerical order, alternating them, to make the quilt top. Pay attention to the placement of the sashing rows.

Step 15. Fuse batting between quilt top and backing or layer the backing, batting and quilt top and baste together. Quilt as desired.

Step 16. Join the 6 x 2 1/2" binding strips on the bias to make one long strip. Press in half lengthwise and bind mitering corners. Attach a label or sign and date your quilt.
