  • Fabric B: AOZ-73124-97 (2-1/8 yds)
  • Fabric C: AOZ-73126-96 (1-1/8 yd)
  • Fabric D: AOZ-73123-84 (1/2 yd)
  • Fabric E: Kona Cotton - Snow (1 yd)
  • Binding* AOZ-73126-96 (5/8 yd) *same as fabric C
  • You will also need 4-2/3 yds Backing Fabric

NOTES

  • Please read through all of the instructions before beginning.
  • All of the seam allowances are 1/4" unless otherwise noted.
  • Width of fabric (WOF) is equal to at least 42" wide.
  • Press all seam allowances open after each seam is sewn, unless otherwise noted.
  • Remember to measure twice and cut once!

INSTRUCTIONS

CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS

From Fabric A, cut:

two strips 10-1/2" x WOF. Sub cut:

six squares 10-1/2" x 10-1/2"

From Fabric B, cut:

two strips 4-1/2" x 68" from the Length of Fabric from the remaining WOF, cut:

four strips 4-1/2" x WOF for outer border

two strips 10-1/2" x WOF. Sub cut:

six squares 10-1/2" x 10-1/2"

one strip 12-1/2" x WOF. Sub cut:

six vertical strips 2-1/2" x 12-1/2"

three strips 2-1/2" x WOF. Sub cut:

six horizontal strips 2-1/2" x 10-1/2"

two strips 3" x WOF. Sub cut:

twelve squares 3" x 3", cut each square once on the diagonal from the top left to the bottom right

From Fabric C, cut:

one strip 3" x WOF. Sub cut:

twelve squares 3" x 3", cut each square once on the diagonal thirteen strips 2-1/2" x WOF.

Sub cut:

twelve strips 2-1/2" x 10-1/2"

twelve strips 2-1/2" x 12-1/2"

Set aside six strips for border two.

From Fabric D, cut:

one strip 3" x WOF. Sub cut:

twelve squares 3" x 3", cut each square once on the diagonal from the top left to the bottom right

one strip 12-1/2" x WOF. Sub cut:

six vertical strips 2-1/2" x 12-1/2" from the remaining WOF, cut three strips

2-1/2" x WOF. Sub cut:

six horizontal strips 2-1/2" x 10-1/2"

From Fabric E, cut:

fifteen strips 2" x WOF. Sub cut:

eight strips 2" x 14-1/2"

Set aside the remaining strips for sashing and inner border.

From binding, cut:

seven strips 2-1/2" x WOF

BLOCK CONSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Using a lower left Fabric B 3" triangle, place it right sides together (RST) with a Fabric C 3" triangle and sew together to make a Fabric BC half-square triangle (HST). Press the Fabric BC HST open and trim to 2-1/2" x 2-1/2".Repeat to make 12 identical BC HSTs.

Step 2: Repeat Step 1 using Fabric D 3" triangles at the upper right and Fabric C 3" triangles at the lower left. Make 12 identical Fabric CD HSTs.

Step 3: Sew a BC HST to the top of a Fabric B 2-1/2" x 12-1/2" strip, following the diagram (fig. 1). Repeat to make six strips.

Step 4: Sew a BC HST to the bottom of a Fabric C 2-1/2" x 12-1/2" strip, following the diagram (fig. 2). Repeat to make six strips.

Step 5: Sew a Fabric C 2-1/2" x 10-1/2" strip to the top and a Fabric B 2-1/2" x 10-1/2" strip to the bottom of a Fabric A 10-1/2" square, making sure to keep the Fabric A print upright.

Step 6:Sew a strip from Step 4 to the left side of the Fabric A square.

Step 7: Sew a strip from Step 5 to the right side of the Fabric A square to complete Block A. Repeat to make six Block As.

Step 8: Sew a CD HST to the top of a Fabric C 2-1/2" x 12-1/2" strip, following the diagram (fig. 3). Repeat to make six strips.

Step 9: Sew a CD HST to the bottom of a Fabric D 2-1/2" x 12-1/2" strip, following the diagram (fig. 4). Repeat to make six strips.

Step 10: Sew a Fabric D 2-1/2" x 10-1/2" strip to the top and a Fabric C 2-1/2" x 10-1/2" strip to the bottom of a Fabric B 10-1/2" square, making sure to keep the Fabric B print upright.

Step 11: Sew a strip from Step 9 to the left side of the Fabric B square.

Step 12: Sew a strip from Step 10 to the right side of the Fabric B square to complete Block B. Repeat to make six Block Bs.

QUILT ASSEMBLY

Step 13:Arrange the completed Block As and Block Bs together as indicated in the quilt assembly diagram (pg 6, noting placement and orientation). Sew each row together with a Fabric E 2"x 14-1/2" sashing strip between each block.

Step 14:Sew your Fabric E 2" x WOF strips together and cut three strips 2" x 45-1/2". Sew these strips in between the rows you made in step 13.

Step 15:Sew Fabric E 2" x WOF strips together and cut two strips 2" x 61" and sew to the sides of the quilt.

Step 16:Sew Fabric E 2" x WOF strips together and cut two strips 2" x 49" and sew to top and bottom of quilt.

Step 17:Sew three Fabric C 2-1/2" x WOF strips together, end-to-end. From the long strip, cut one strip 2-1/2" x 52-1/2" and one strip 2-1/2" x 64". Repeat to make two strips of each size.

Step 18:Sew a Fabric C 2-1/2" x 64" strip to either side of the quilt.

Step 19:Sew a Fabric C 2-1/2" x 52-1/2" strip to the top and bottom of the quilt.

Step 20:Sew a Fabric B 4-1/2" x 68" strip to either side of the quilt.

Step 21:Sew two Fabric B 4-1/2" x 32" strips together, end-to-end. Trim to 4-1/2" x 60-1/2". Repeat to make two top and bottom outer border strips.

Step 22: Sew a Fabric B 4-1/2" x 60-1/2" strip to the top and bottom of the quilt.

Your quilt top is now complete!
