INSTRUCTIONS

OMBRE CRACKLE ON WHITE CANVAS

STEP 1

You will need the same 5 - 6 colours of paint used for the ombre canvas, as well as a white paint. Order the coloured paints from light to dark.

STEP 2

Paint the entire canvas in the white paint and allow to dry.

STEP 3

When the paint is dry, lay the crackle stencil over the canvas, and using the metallic paint gently paint over all the cracks. You will need to start painting the cracks with the lightest paint at one end of the canvas and gradually work through the paints so that the darkest colour is at the other end of the canvas. Make sure to blend the colours together in the areas where the colour changes. Once again, you will need to reposition the stencil to cover the entire canvas, but do not reposition the stencil until the paint is completely dry, to avoid smudging. Gently remove the stencil when you have finished painting over the stencil, be careful so you do not disturb the wet paint.

METALLIC CRACKLE ON OMBRE CANVAS

STEP 1

Choose 5 - 6 paints in differing shades of a colour. For example, we selected 6 shades of aqua and blue. Order the paints from light to dark. You will also need to choose a metallic paint in abcomplementary colour to use for the crackle design, we chosebsilver for this project.

STEP 2

Cover the canvas in the paint, starting at one end with the lighter colour and working through to the darkest colour at the other end. Blend the colours together where they meet on the canvas to ensure the paint flows nicely from one colour to the next. Allow the paint to dry.

STEP 3

When the paint is dry, lay the crackle stencil over the canvas, and using the metallic paint gently paint over all the cracks. Gently remove the stencil when you have finished painting over the stencil, be careful so you do not disturb the wet paint. You will need to reposition the stencil to cover the entire canvas, but make sure the metallic paint has dried before doing thisas you may smudge the paint.
