Kringle Sparkle 8Ply Cable Bauble Project

LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Value Ball Kringle Sparkle 8ply 1 x 50g ball will make approx. 4 small baubles
  • or 2 large baubles
  • 1 pair 4.00mm knitting needles
  • Cable needle
  • 1 polystyrene ball approx 24 cm diameter
  • 1 polystyrene ball approx 32 diameter
  • Scissors, wool needle, tape measure

INSTRUCTIONS

BAUBLES

Using 4.00mm needles, cast on 34 sts for small bauble or 45 sts for large bauble.
Foundation row (RS) - Inc knitways once in each st ... 68 sts for small bauble or 90 sts for large bauble.

Beg Patt - 1st row (WS) - * K2, P1 tbl, K2, P6, rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.
2nd row - P2, * K6, P2, K1 tbl, P2, rep from * to end.
3rd row - As 1st row.
4th row - P2, * C6B, P2, K1 tbl, P2, rep from * to end.
5th row - As 1st row.
6th row - As 2nd row. Rows 1 to 6 inclusive form patt. Cont in patt until work measures approx 11 cm for small bauble or 17 cm for large bauble from beg, ending with a 5th row.
Next row - * K2tog, rep from * to end ... 34 sts for small bauble or 45 sts for large bauble.
Break off yarn leaving a long end. Run end through rem sts, draw up tightly to close opening. Leave yarn attached.

TO MAKE UP

DO NOT PRESS. Thread end attached onto wool needle and using mattress st seam, join side edges together. Place knitted piece over ball. Work a running thread along cast on edge, draw up tightly to close opening and fasten off securely.

For Small Bauble - Using 3 strands of yarn, make a plait approx 16 cm long. Knot ends. Fold in half to form a loop and attach ends securely to top of bauble as pictured.

For Large Bauble Using 4 strands of yarn, make a twisted cord approx 24 cm long. Knot ends. Fold in half to form a loop and attach ends securely to top of bauble as pictured.
