WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • "Abbey Road" Truly Madly Mohair 50g x 6 (7-7-8) balls Main Colour (M) Slate and 2 (3-3-3) balls Contrast Colour (C) Smoke.
  • 1 pair 8mm knitting needles, or size required for correct tension
  • A large cable needle
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

Fits Bust (approx) cm: 75-80 (size S), 85-90 (size M), 95-100 (size L), 105-110 (size XL)
Actual Size cm: 93 (size S),103 (size M), 114 (size L), 125 (size XL)
Length (approx) cm: 55 (size S), 56 (size M), 57 (size L), 58 (size XL)
Sleeve Length cm: 32 (all sizes)

TENSION

11 sts x 14 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 8mm needles.

INSTRUCTIONS

SPECIAL ABBREVIATION

C6B = slip next 3 sts onto cable needle and leave at back of work, K3, then K3 from cable needle.

C6F = slip next 3 sts onto cable needle and leave at front of work, K3, then K3 from cable needle.


LOWER CABLE BAND (make 2) -

Using 8mm needles and C, cast on 14 sts.

1st row (RS) - Knit.

2nd row - K1, P12, K1.

3rd row - K1, C6B, C6F, K1.

4th row - As 2nd row.

Rep 1st and 2nd rows twice. Last 8 rows form patt. Cont in patt until work measures approx 47 (52-57-62) cm, ending with a 3rd row.

Next row (WS) - As 2nd row. Cast off.

BACK AND FRONT (both alike)

With RS facing, using 8mm needles and M, knit up 53 (59-65-71) sts evenly along right side edge of one Lower Cable Band. Work in stocking st beg with a purl row, until work measures 32cm from beg (incl lower cable band), ending with a purl row.

Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg of armholes as there is no armhole shaping. Cont in stocking st until armholes measure 19 (20-21-22) cm from coloured threads, ending with a purl row.

Shape Neck -

1st row (RS) - K23 (25-27-29), turn.

Cont on these 23 (25-27-29) sts for first side of neck. Dec one st at neck edge in every row until 19 (21-23-25) sts rem. Work 1 row stocking st.

Shape Shoulder -

Cast off 6 (7-8-8) sts loosely at beg of next row, then in foll alt row. Work 1 row. Cast off rem 7 (7-7-9) sts loosely. Slip next 7 (9-11-13) sts onto a stitch-holder and leave for neckband.

With RS facing, join yarn to rem sts at neck edge, knit to end. Cont on these 23 (25-27-29) sts for second side of neck.

Dec one st at neck edge in every row until 19 (21-23-25) sts rem. Work 2 rows stocking st.

Shape Shoulder -

Cast off 6 (7-8-8) sts loosely at beg of next row, then in foll alt row. Work 1 row. Cast off rem 7 (7-7-9) sts loosely.

CABLE CUFFS (make 2)

Using 8mm needles, cast 14 sts. Work as for lower cable band, until work measures approx 46 (47-48-49) cm from beg, ending with a 3rd row.

Next row (WS) - As 2nd row. Cast off loosely.

SLEEVES

With RS facing, using 8mm needles and M, knit up 64 (66-68-72) sts evenly along right side edge of one lower cable band. Work in stocking st beg with a purl row, until work measures 31cm from beg (incl lower cable band), ending with a purl row.

Next row (RS) - K20 (21-22-24), (sl 1, K2tog, psso) 8 times, K20 (21-22-24) ... 48 (50-52-56) sts.

Next row (WS) - Purl.

Cast off loosely.

NECKBAND

Using mattress st, join right shoulder seam. With RS facing, using 8mm needles and M, knit up 6 sts evenly along left side of front
neck, knit across 7 (9-11-13) sts from front stitch-holder, knit up 6 sts evenly along right side of front neck, knit up 6 sts evenly along right side of back neck, knit across 7 (9-11-13) sts from back stitch-holder, then knit up 6 sts evenly along left side of back neck ... 38 (42-46-50) sts. Work 5 rows stocking st beg with a purl row. Cast off loosely.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st, join left shoulder and neckband seam. Make a box pleat at the top of each sleeve across centre dec section and slip st tog along top edge. Sew in sleeves evenly between coloured threads, placing centre of sleeves to shoulder seams. Join side and sleeve seams.
