FABRIC POT COVERS
LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Urban Sanctuary Decorator Canvas cut to below sizes for different pots:
- Large - 45 x 50 + 15cm - 1m Decorator Canvas, 1m Decorator Canvas for lining
- Medium - 35 x 40 + 12cm - 0.75m Decorator Canvas, 0.75m Decorator Canvas for lining
- Small - 25 x 30 + 10cm - 0.5m Decorator Canvas, 0.5m Decorator Canvas for lining
- Sewing Machine and matching thread
- Pins
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
- Ruler and pencil for pattern making
- Plant and pot
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 - Cut the panels of both Decorator Canvas fabrics as per the required size of cover using the table below.

Note - Figures in the following process are written for 45x50+15cm size (Refer to table for required size).
Step 3 - Take Panel 1 of Outer Side Panels and place the shorter 53cm ends together with right sides facing in. Stitch along this edge with a 1cm seam allowance. Do the same with Panel 2 of contrasting lining decorator fabric.
Step 4 - Take Panel 3 of outer fabric and pin along the base edge of Panel 1 outer side panels. Sew together with a 1cm seam allowance. Repeat this with the lining base panel and side panels. You will now have 2 bucket shapes. Use scissors to snip into the curved seam allowance at the base, this will help create a neat curved edge when finished.
Step 5 - Fold over the top edges of both pieces (outer and lining) 2cm and press. With wrong sides together, place the lining bucket inside the outer bucket and match up the bases so they sit neatly inside each other. Pin the pressed edges together at the top of the buckets and sew together with a 1cm seam allowance.
Step 6 - Fold over the lining edge roughly 5cm to show the contrast fabric and place your pot plant inside!
Step 7 - Repeat with other measurements and fabric combinations.
