Waxed Wicks

  • Pre waxed for no fuss use
  • Use correct width for container size
  • The wider the wick the greater the diameter measure of container e.g.
  • 1mm x 150mm for small container upto 65mm
  • 2mm x 150mm for medium container 65mm - 80mm
  • 3mm x 150mm for large container 80mm - 100mm
  • One length 150mm, trim excess and save for another candle project

Wood Wick

  • Flat horizontal flame
  • Has faint wood scent when burning
  • Easy to use with Tbar tab included
  • Excess can be trimmed
  • 13mm x 1mm x 150mm suitable for container diameter 80mm-100mm

MAKING INFO

  • Before you start making candles set out all your requirements
  • Use containers that are made of glass, tin, ceramic, porcelain, china e.g. vases, glasses, cups, mugs and tin containers
  • Avoid using plastic containers as the hot wax may cause it to melt out of shape and can cause injury
  • Ensure containers are clean and dry
  • Always follow the safety precautions in the wax packs
  • If adding fragrance always do a practice run first to test out strength of fragrance

Beeswax

  • Natural product for candle making
  • Ideal for making your own waxed wicks with cotton braid in the candle making range
  • Best wax for tapered (Pillar) candles, container candles, tea lights
  • Long burn time
  • Sets harder than Soy Wax
  • Once poured into container allow to set

24hrs before using

  • Wrap unused beeswax in plastic to keep dust off and store in cool place if you have leftover melted wax cool completely before storing

Soy Wax

  • Natural product for candle making
  • Easy to use
  • Colourless and Odourless
  • Fragrances can be added, if in powder form add to wax pellets, if in liquid form add to melted wax
  • Allow to set for 24hrs before using
  • Wrap unused soy wax in plastic to keep dust off and store in cool place
  • If you have leftover melted wax cool completely first before storing

MAKING INFO

  • Melt wax in double boiler or microwave
  • If melting in microwave do in short bursts until wax is just melted
  • If doing in bowl over saucepan method or double saucepan ensure water does not touch bowl
  • Keep wicks in place with a couple of paddle sticks as shown in project sheet* when pouring of wax
  • Allow an extra 25% of wax to melt to fill container

Paraffin Wax

  • Product for candle making that is white, odorless, waxy solid chips for quick melting
  • Best wax for all candles, container candles, tea lights etc
  • Long burn time
  • Can add fragrance or colors to the wax easily
  • Once poured into container allow to cool as slowly as possible. Do not place in a water bath or refrigerator to accelerate the cooling process.
