Spook 8Ply Pumpkin Beanie Project

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Value Ball Spook 8ply 50g balls, Main Colour (M - orange) x 2 balls, Contrast Colour (C - Black) x 1 ball.
  • 1 pair 4mm knitting needles or size needed for correct tension.
  • 1 pair 3.25mm knitting needles.
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

INSTRUCTIONS

BEANIE

Using 3.25mm needles and M, cast on 102 (114) sts.

BEG BRIM

1st row (RS) - K2 * P2, K2, rep from * to end.
2nd row - P2, * K2, P2, rep from * to end. Last 2 rows form rib.
Work a further 10 rows rib, inc 2 sts evenly across last row 104 (116) sts, 12 rows rib in all. Change to 4mm needles. Work 32 (36) rows stocking st.

SHAPE CROWN

1st row (RS) - K1, * K2tog, K15 (17), rep from * to last st, K1...98 (110) sts.
2nd and every foll alt row - Purl.
3rd row - K1, * K2tog, K14 (16), rep from * to last st, K1...92 (104) sts.
5th row -K1, * K2tog, K13 (15), rep from * to last st, K1...86 (98) sts. Cont dec in this manner (working 1 less st between dec) in every foll alt row until 38 sts rem.
Next row (WS) * P2tog, rep from * to end ... 19 sts. Break off yarn leaving a long end. Thread yarn through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using a small amount of C, mark centre st on 1st row of stocking st above brim. Using yarn needle, Knitting Stitch embroidery and C, embroider motif (see ?) onto front of Beanie as pictured, using marked centre st as a guide for placement. Using mattress st and long end of M left at crown, join side edges tog to form centre back seam. Sew in ends.
