PRINTED JERSEY KNOT CUSHIONS

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1.Cut strips of fabric measuring 2m long by 18cm wide out of both fabrics. You will need 2 pieces per knot for the larger size or just 1 for the smaller single knots.

Step 2. To create the tubes of fabrics, pin the long lengths of your strip with right sides facing in. Use a zigzag stitch and sew the length of the fabric leaving a 1cm seam allowance, it's important to use a zig zag stitch so the stitches stretch along with the fabric and don't break when stuffing the sleeves.

Step 3. Feed one end of the fabric into the cardboard tube and pull it out the other end. Then fold that end back onto the cardboard and continue pulling to turn the fabric inside out. Be careful here not to snap the stitching.

Step 4. Push the fabric completely down to one end of the cardboard tube. Then start stuffing from the other end of the cardboard tube. Stuffing small pieces at a time push it all the way to the other end of the tube using a long ruler. Try and keep the thickness of the stuffing consistent for the entire fabric tube. Continue this process until the entire fabric tube is filled.

Step 5. Once the fabric is filled, tie off with a knot or sew up the open ends of the fabric tube to close. Once the knot is tied you won't see the ends of the fabric.

Step 6. Now it's time to create your knot. Follow the illustrations in the diagram below. Once you have completed that with your first fabric tube, trace the same pattern with your second tube so they run parallel to one another. When both tubes are in place adjust so they form a tight knot.

Step 7. Hand stitch the ends together and tuck them back into the pillow so they're concealed.

Step 8. Play with different lengths of fabric to create different sizes. You can complete this project using many different knots so get creative and try a bunch of different designs.
