    INSTRUCTIONS

    CUSHION FRONT

Note -the cushion fronts are made using the quick pieced quarter square triangle method.

Step 1. From each of the Pokemon fabrics cut 1 x 19 1/4" square. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of the aqua square.

Step 2. Pin the two squares together with right sides facing. Sew a 1/4" seam on each side of the marked line.

Step 3. Cut along the drawn diagonal line to separate and press seams towards the royal triangle. You now have two half square triangles.

Step 4. On the back of one half square triangle unit draw a diagonal line from corner to corner across the seam. Pin half square triangle units together alternating royal and aqua fabrics, aligning outside edges. Seam allowances should butt together.

Step 5. Sew a 1/4" seam on each side of the marked line.

Step 6. Cut along the drawn diagonal line to separate, press seams towards the royal triangle and trim off dog ears. Finished squares should measure 18".

CUSHION BACK (same for both cushions)

Step 7. From both aqua and royal fabric cut one 18" x 12 1/2" rectangles for the cushion back. To sew a double hem along one 18" long side of each rectangle, fold and press under 1/4" then another 1/4" and topstitch hem in place.

Step 8. With one cushion front right side up, place aqua hemmed back piece face down on top, aligning top and side raw edges with hemmed edge towards the centre. Pin in place. Place royal back piece face down on top aligning bottom and side edges with hemmed edge overlapping the other in the centre. Pin in place.

Step 9. Sew together around all four sides using 1/4" seam allowance. Clip corners and overlock or zigzag seams to neaten. Turn cover right side out and press flat. Place insert into cover with back edges overlapping.

Step 10. Repeat steps 7-9 for remaining cushion cover.
