WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • 'Moda Vera' Jansen 50g: Main Colour (M) 8 (9-10-11) balls, 1st Contrast (C1) 6 (7-8-9) balls,2nd Contrast (C2) 2 (2-3-3) balls.
  • 1 pair each of 6.00mm, 6.50mm knitting needles and a set of 6.00mm knitting needles or size required to give correct tension.
  • 4 stitch-holders, scissors, yarn needle, tape measure.

TENSION

15 sts x 19 rows to 10cm over 1x1 rib, using 6.50mm needles.

INSTRUCTIONS

BACK

Using 6.00mm needles and M, cast on 87 (95-103-111) sts.

1st row (RS) - K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to last st, K1.

2nd row - K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.

Last 2 rows form rib.

Rep last 2 rows 5 times, (12 rows rib in all).

Change to 6.50mm needles and C1.

Work 10 row rib.

Using M, work 10 rows rib.

Rep last 20 rows twice.

Using C2, work 12 rows rib.

SHAPE RAGLAN ARMHOLES

Change to M, keeping rib correct and working in stripes of 10 rows M and 10 rows C1 cont as folls -

Cast off 3 (4-5-6) sts at beg of next 2 rows ... 81 (87-93-99) sts.

3rd row - (RS) K2, P1, sl 1, K1, psso, rib last 5 sts, K2tog, P1, K2.

4th row - P2, K1, P2tog, rib to last 5 sts, P2tog tbl, K1, P2.

5th row - K2, P1, sl 1, K1, psso, rib to last 5 sts, K2tog, P1, K2.

6th row - P2, K1, rib to last 3 sts, K1, P2 ... 75 (81-87-93) sts. **

Using C1, work 10 rows rib, inc one st at each end of next row, then foll 4th rows ... 43 (45-47-49) sts.

Work 1 row rib.

Using M, work 10 rows rib, inc one st at each end of 3rd row, then foll 4th row ... 47 (49-51-53) sts.

Work 3 rows rib.

Using C1, work 10 rows rib, inc one st at each end of 3rd (next-next-next) row, then foll 6th (4th-4th-4th) rows ... 51 (55-57-59) sts.

Work 1 row rib.

NECKBAND

Using mattress st, join raglan seams noting that tops of sleeves form part of neckband. With RS facing, using a set of 6.00mm needles and M, and beg at left back raglan seam, knit across 11 sts across top of left sleeve, knit up 12 (14-16-18) sts evenly along left front neck shaping, knit across 9 (9-11-11) sts from front neck stitch holder, knit up 12 (14-16-18) sts along right front neck shaping, knit across 11 sts across top of right sleeve, then knit across 25 (27-29-31) sts from back neck stitch holder ... 80 (86-96-100) sts.

1st round - * K1, P1, rep from * to end.

Rep last round 5 times.

Cast off loosely in rib.

FINISHING

Join side and sleeve seams. Sew in ends.
