  • 'Moda Vera' Jansen 50g: 9 (10-11-12) balls.
  • 1 pair of 6.50mm knitting needles and a set of 6.00mm knitting needles or size required to give correct tension.
  • 2 stitch-holders, scissors, yarn needle, tape measure.

TENSION

13 sts x 19 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 6.50mm needles.

INSTRUCTIONS

BACK

Using 6.50mm needles, cast on 69 (77-83- 91) sts.

Knit 5 rows, (1st row is wrong side).

Working in stocking st for rem, cont until work measures 25cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.

Tie a marker at each end of last row to mark armhole depth, as there is no armhole shaping.

Cont in stocking st until work measures 45 (46-47-48) cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.

SHAPE SHOULDERS

Cast off 7 (8-9-10) sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 8 (9-9-10) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.

Leave rem 25 (27-29-31) sts on stitch-holder for neckband.

FRONT

Work as given for Back until there are 12 (14-16-18) rows less than back to beg of shoulder shaping, working last row on wrong side.

SHAPE NECK

1st row - K29 (33-35-39), turn.

Cont on these 29 (33-35-39), sts for left side of neck shaping.

Dec one st at neck edge in every row until 25 (29-31-35) sts rem, then in every foll alt row until 22 (25-27-30) sts rem.

Work 3 rows stocking st.

SHAPE SHOULDER

Cast off 7 (8-9-10) sts at beg of next and foll alt row.

Purl 1 row.

Cast off rem 8 (9-9-10) sts.

Slip next 11 (11-13-13) sts onto a stitch holder and leave for neckband.

With RS facing, join yarn to rem 29 (33-35- 39) sts, knit to end.

Cont on these 29 (33-35-39) sts for right side of neck shaping.

Dec one st at neck edge in every row until 25 (29-31-35) sts rem, then in every foll alt row until 22 (25-27-30) sts rem.

Work 4 rows.

SHAPE SHOULDER

Cast off 7 (8-9-10) sts at beg of next and foll alt row.

Purl 1 row.

Cast off rem 8 (9-9-10) sts.

SLEEVES

Using 6.50mm needles, cast on 27 (29-31- 33) sts.

Knit 5 rows (1st row is wrong side)

Working in stocking st for rem, inc one st at each end of next row, then in every foll 4th (4th-6th-6th) row until there are 31 (33- 53-53) sts, then in every foll 6th (6th-8th- 8th) row until there are 51 (53-55-57) sts.

Cont without further inc until work measures 43 (44-45-46) cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.

SHAPE TOP

Keeping pattern correct, cast off 7 (7-7- 8) sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 7 (8-8- 7) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.

Cast off rem 9 (9-11-11) sts.

NECKBAND

Using mattress stitch, join shoulder seams. With RS facing, using a set of 6.00mm needles, beg at left shoulder seam, knit up 12 (14-16-18) sts evenly along left side of front neck shaping, knit across 11 (11-13-13) sts from front neck stitch-holder, inc 4 sts evenly across, knit up 12 (14-16-18) sts evenly along right side of front neck shaping, then knit across 25 (27-29-31) from back neck stitch-holder, inc 4 sts evenly across ... 68 (74-82-88) sts.

1st round - Knit.

Rep last round 11 times.

Next round - Purl.

Next round - Knit.

Rep last 2 rounds twice.

Cast off loosely purlways.

FINISHING

Placing centre of sleeve to shoulder seam, sew in sleeves evenly between markers. Join side and sleeve seams. Sew in ends.
