• 'Moda Vera' Hue 7 (9-11) x 50g balls
• 1 pair each 6mm and 5mm knitting needles or sizes needed for correct tension
• A 5mm circular needle (80cm long)
• Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure
• 5 buttons

TENSION

14 sts x 20 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 6mm needles.

INSTRUCTIONS

BACK

Using pair 5mm needles cast on 57 (63-69) sts.

Beg Rib -

1st row(RS) - K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to last st, K1.

2nd row -K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.

Last 2 rows form rib. Cont in rib until work measures 5cm from beg, ending with and 2nd row. Change to 6mm needles.

Work in stocking st until work measures 31cm from beg, ending with a purl row. Work a further 12 rows.

Shape Armholes -

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows ... 53 (59-65) sts.

1st row -K2, sl 1, K1, psso, knit to last 4 sts, K2tog, K2.

2nd row -Purl.

Rep last 2 rows until 49 (53-55) sts rem. Cont without shaping until armhole measures 20 (22-25) cm, ending with a purl row.

Shape Shoulders -

Cast off 5 sts at beg of next 4 rows. Cast off rem 29 (33-35) sts.

LEFT FRONT

Using pair 5mm needles cast on 29 (31-35) sts.

Beg Rib -

Work in rib as for lower band of Back until work measures 5cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row. Change to 6mm needles. Work in stocking st until work measures 31cm from beg, ending with a purl row. **

Shape Front Slope -

Next row -Knit to last 2 sts, K2tog.

Next row -Purl.

Rep last 2 rows until until 24 (25-29) sts rem, ending with a purl row. Work 2 (0-0) row/s.

Shape Armhole

Next row -Cast off 2 sts, knit to last 2 sts, K2tog.

Next row -Purl.

Next row -K2, sl 1, K1, psso, knit to end.

Next row -Purl ... 20 (21-25) sts.

Cont dec one st (as before) at armhole edge in next row, then in every foll alt row 0 (1-3) time/s, AT SAME TIME dec one st (as before) at front edge in next row, then in every foll 4th row until 10 sts rem.

Cont without shaping untilarmholemeasures same as Back to beg of shoulder shaping, ending with a purl row.

Shape Shoulder -

Cast off 5 sts at beg of next row. Work 1 row. Cast off rem 5 sts.

RIGHT FRONT

Work as for Left Front to **.

Shape Front Slope -

Next row -K2tog, knit end.

Next row -Purl.

Rep last 2 rows until until 24 (24-28) sts rem,size S only- then in foll 4th row, ending with a dec row.

Shape Armhole -

Next rowCast off 2 sts, purl to end ... 21 (22-26) sts.

Next row -Knit to last 4 sts, K2tog, K2 ... 20 (21-25) sts.

Next rowPurl.

Cont dec one st (as before) atarmholeedge in next row, then in every foll alt row 0 (1-3) time/s, AT SAME TIME dec one st (as before) at front edge in next row, then in every foll 4th row until 10 sts rem.

Cont without shaping until armhole measures same as Back to beg of shoulder shaping, ending with a purl row. Work 1 row.

Shape Shoulder -

Cast off 5 sts at beg of next row. Work 1 row. Cast off rem 5 sts.

SLEEVES

Using pair 5mm needles, cast on 29 (33-37) sts.

Beg Rib -

Work in rib as for lower band of Back until work measures 8cm from beg, ending with 2nd row. Change to 6mm needles. Work 6 rows stocking st.

Next row -K2, M1, knit to last 2 sts, M1, K2. Cont inc one st (as before) at each end of every foll 8th row until there are 45 (49-53) sts. Cont without shaping until work measures 50cm from beg, ending with a purl row.

Shape Top -

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows ... 41 (45-49) sts.

Next row -K2, sl 1, K1, psso, knit to last 4 sts, K2tog, K2.

Cont dec one st (as before) at each end of every foll alt row until 19 (23-19) sts rem, then in every row until 9 sts rem. Cast off.

NECK AND FRONT BANDS

Using mattress st, join shoulder seams. With RS facing and using circular 5mm needle, knit up 60 sts evenly along right front edge to front slope shaping, 52 (54-56) sts evenly along right front slope shaping to shoulder seam, 27 (29-33) sts across cast off sts at back neck, 52 (54-56) sts evenly along left front slope shaping, then 60 sts evenly along left front edge ... 251 (257-265) sts.

Note -A circular needle has been used to accommodate the large number of sts. Work in rows NOT rounds.

1st row (WS)Knit.

Work 4 rows rib as for lower band of Back.

Next row -Rib 5, (yrn, rib2tog, rib 11) 4 times, yrn, rib 2tog, rib to end ... 5 buttonholes. Work 5 rows rib. Cast off loosely in rib.

FINISHING

Using mattress st, join side and sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves. Sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes.
