MARVEL 12PLY CHRISTMAS THROW
LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- "4 Seasons" Marvel 12ply and Marvel Denim Effects 12ply 100g, Main Colour (M) Cranberry x 8 balls and 1 ball each of 1st Contrast (C1) Sage, 2nd Contrast (C2) Bear, 3rd Contrast (C3) White, 4th Contrast (C4) Gold, 5th Contrast (C5) Petrol.
- A 6mm crochet hook, or size required to give correct tension
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Tape measure
MEASUREMENTS
Width (approx finished) 110cm
Length (approx finished) 150cm
TENSION
11.5 sts and 7 rows to 10cm over treble fabric using 6mm hook.
INSTRUCTIONS
THROW (beg at lower edge)
Using 6mm hook and M, make 117ch.
1st row - Miss 3ch (counts as 1tr), 1tr in next ch, 1tr in each ch to end, turn ... 115tr.
2nd row - 3ch (counts as 1tr), 1tr in each tr to end, turn.
Rep 2nd row until work measures 140cm from beg.
Fasten off.
CHRISTMAS TREES (make 12)
Using 6mm hook and C1, make 15ch.
1st row - Miss 1ch, 1dc in each of next 14ch, turn ... 14 sts.
2nd row - 1ch (does not count as a st), miss same st, 1dc in each of next 13dc, turn ... 13 sts.
3rd row - 1ch, miss same st, 1dc in each of next 12dc, turn ... 12 sts.
Rep 3rd row, working 1 less dc (as before) until you have worked the row "1ch, miss same st, 1dc in last dc".
Fasten off.
Base - Join C2 with a sl st in 6th st along base of tree.
1st row - 1ch (does not count as a st), 1dc in each of next 5 sts, turn ... 5dc.
2nd row - 1ch, 1dc in each dc to end.
Fasten off.
Star - Using 6mm hook and C4, make a magic loop.
1st round - 1ch, (1dc, 1tr, 2ch, 1tr) in loop 5 times, sl st in first dc at beg.
Fasten off.
BLOCK ONE (make 12)
Using 6mm hook and C3, make 21ch.
1st row - Miss 1ch, 1dc in each ch to end, turn ... 20dc.
2nd row - 1ch (does not count as a st), miss same st, 1dc in each dc to end, turn.
Rep 2nd row until work measures 12cm from beg.
Fasten off. Draw up loop to tighten.
BLOCK TWO (make 6)
Using 6mm hook and C3, make 21ch.
1st row - Miss 1ch, 1dc in each ch to end, turn ... 20dc.
2nd row - 1ch, miss same st, 1dc in each dc to end, turn.
Using C5, rep 2nd row twice.
Using C4, rep 2nd row twice.
Using C2, rep 2nd row twice.
Using C3, rep 2nd row twice.
Last 8 rows form stripe patt.
Cont in stripe patt until work measures 12cm from beg, ending with a complete stripe.
Fasten off.
EDGING
With RS facing and using 6mm hook, join M in any st along lower edge.
1st round - 1ch, work in dc evenly around all edges taking care to keep work flat and working 3dc in
each corner, sl st in 1ch at beg.
2nd round - 1ch, work 1dc in each dc to end, working 3dc in each corner dc, sl st in 1ch at beg.
Rep 2nd round until Edging measures 5cm from beg.
Fasten off.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Sew each star to top of Christmas tree as pictured, then sew Christmas trees in
position to block one as pictured. Place all motifs onto Throw and sew securely in position as pictured.
