PURE WOOL 8PLY BEANIES

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• '4 Seasons' Pure Wool 8 Ply 50g x 3 balls for Child and 3 x balls for Adult
• A pair 5.50mm knitting needles or size needed for correct tension.
• Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure
• 2 purchased pom poms

MEASUREMENTS

To fit head (approx) cm: 52-54 (Child), 56-58 (Adult)

TENSION

14 sts and 30 rows to 10 cm over fishermans rib, using 5.50mm needles and 2 strands of yarn together.

INSTRUCTIONS

SPECIAL ABBREVIATION

K1B - knit 1 below - knit into next st 1 row below, slipping both sts off needle together.

BEANIE

Using 5.50mm needles and 2 strands of yarn tog, cast on 67 (75) sts.

Beg 1 x 1 Rib - 1st row (RS) - K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to last st, K1.

2nd row - K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end. Rep 1st and 2nd rows until work measures 4cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row.

Beg Fishermans Rib- 1st row(RS) - Knit.

2nd row - K1, P1, *K1B, P1, rep from * to last st, K1. Last 2 rows form fishermans rib. Cont in fishermans rib until work measures 16 (19) cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row.

Beg 1 x 1 Rib - Work 4 rows 1 x 1 rib (as before).

Shape Crown - 1st row - K2, * sl 1, K2tog, psso, rib 5, rep from * to last st, K1 ... 51 (57) sts. Work 1 row rib.

3rd row - K2, * sl 1, K2tog, psso, rib 3, rep from * to last st, K1 ... 35 (39) sts. Work 1 row rib.

5th row - K2, * sl 1, K2tog, psso, rib 1, rep from * to last st, K1 ... 19 (21) sts. Work 1 row rib.

Break off yarn leaving a long end. Run end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st, join side edges together to form centre back seam. Sew a pom pom to the top of each beanie.
