WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• 1 pair 3.25mm knitting needles or size needed for correct tension
• 1 pair 2.75mm knitting needles
• Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

• 1 x 50g ball Bella Baby Bambini, 1st Contrast (C1)

• 3 buttons

JUMPER

BACK

Using 2.75mm needles and MC, cast on 67 (75-83-87) sts.

Beg Hem
Work in stocking st until work measures 3cm from beg, ending with a knit row. Knit 1 row (ridge). Change to 3.25mm needles. Cont in stocking st, beg with a knit row until work measures 15 (17-19-20)cm from ridge, ending with a purl row.
Shape Raglan Armholes
Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows... 63 (71-79-83) sts. ** Dec one st at each end of next row, then in every foll 4th row until 55 (65-75-77) sts rem, then in every foll alt row until 31 (33-33-35) sts rem. Work 1 row.
Shape Back Neck
Next row: K2tog, K8, turn. Cont on these 9 sts for right side of back neck.
Next row: (WS) Cast off 5 sts, purl to end...4 sts.
Next row: (K2tog) twice ... 2 sts.
Next row: P2, turn, K2tog. Fasten off.
Slip next 11 (13-13-15) sts onto a stitch-holder and leave for Neckband. With RS facing, join yarn to rem sts, knit to last 2 sts, K2tog. Cont on these 9 sts for left side of back neck.
Next row: (WS) Purl to last 2 sts, P2tog.
Next row: Cast off 5 sts, K1 (this is stitch left on right-hand needle after cast off), K2tog ... 2 sts.
Next row: P2, turn, K2tog. Fasten off.

FRONT

Work as for Back to **. Dec one st at each end of next row, then in every foll 4th row until 55 (65-75-77) sts rem, then in every foll alt row until 49 (51-53-57) sts rem. Work 1 row.
Shape Neck
Next row: (RS) K2tog, K19 (20-21-22), turn.
Cont on these 20 (21-22-23) sts for left side of front neck. *** Dec one st at armhole edge in every foll alt row 10 (10-11-12) times, AT SAME TIME dec one st at neck edge in every row 4 times, then in every foll alt row 2 (2-3-2) times, then in every foll 4th row 2 (3-2-3) times...2 sts.
Next row: P2, turn, K2tog. Fasten off. *** Slip next 7 (7-7-9) sts onto a stitch-holder and leave for Neckband. With RS facing, join yarn to rem sts, knit to last 2 sts, K2tog. Cont on these 20 (21-22-23) sts for right side of front neck. Repeat from *** to ***.

SLEEVES

Using 2.75mm needles and MC, cast on 39 (43-47-47) sts in rib.
Beg Cuff
Row 1: (RS) K2, * P1, K1, repeat from * to last st, K1.
Row 2: K1, * P1, K1, repeat from * to end.
Last 2 rows form rib. Cont in rib until Cuff measures 3cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row.
Change to 3.25mm needles. Working in stocking st, inc one st at each end of 5th row, then in every foll alt (6th-6th-4th) row until there are 45 (53-59-51) sts, then in every foll 4th (8th-8th-6th) row until there are 53 (55-61-65) sts. Cont without shaping (beg with a purl row) until Sleeve measures 13 (16-19-21) cm from beg, ending with a purl row.
Shape Raglan
Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows...49 (51-57-61) sts. Size 3 months only - Dec one st at each end of every row twice...45 sts.
All sizes
Dec one st at each end of next row, then in every foll alt row until 5 sts rem. Work 1 row. Leave rem sts on a stitch-holder for Neckband.

NECKBAND

Using mattress stitch, join raglan seams joining left front raglan seam for only 4 (5-7-8)cm from beg of raglan to allow for front opening and noting that tops of Sleeves form part of neckline. With RS facing, using 2.75mm needles and MC, knit up 18 (18-20-22) sts evenly along left side of front neck, knit across front stitch-holder, knit up 18 (18-20-22) sts evenly along right side of front neck, knit across st from right Sleeve stitch-holder, knit up 9 sts evenly along right side of back neck, knit across back stitch-holder, knit up 9 sts evenly along left side of back neck, then knit across left Sleeve stitch-holder...81 (83-87-95) sts. Beg with a Row 2, work in rib as for Cuff, until Neckband measures 2cm from beg, ending with a Row 2. Cast off loosely in rib.

FRONT OPENING BUTTONHOLE BAND

With RS facing, using 2.75mm needles, knit up 32 (32-36-36) sts evenly along front left raglan edge and side edge of Neckband.
Row 1: (WS) K4, yfwd, K2tog, [K9 (9-11-11), yfwd, K2tog] twice, K4 ... 3 buttonholes.
Row 2: Knit. Cast off loosely.

FRONT OPENING BUTTON BAND

With RS facing, using 2.75mm needles, knit up 32 (32-36-36) sts evenly along the side edge of Neckband and front left Sleeve raglan. Knit 2 rows garter st (Row 1 is WS). Cast off loosely.

POCKET

Using 3.25mm needles and MC, cast on 33 sts. Knit 3 rows garter st (1st row is WS).
Next row: (RS) Knit.
Next row: (WS) K2, purl to last 2 sts, K2. Repeat last 2 rows 20 times. Knit 2 rows garter st. Cast off loosely purlways.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using Knitting Stitch Embroidery, embroider motif onto Pocket as indicated on Graph. Fold hem onto WS at ridge and slip stitch in position. Using mattress stitch, join side and Sleeve seams. Sew Pocket in position to Front as pictured. Catch end of Front Opening Bands in position. Sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes. Weave in loose ends.

HAT

Using 2.75mm needles and MC, cast on 101 (115-119-119) sts.
Beg Brim
Row 1: (RS) K2, * P1, K1, repeat from * to last st, K1.
Row 2: K1, * P1, K1, repeat from * to end. Last 2 rows for rib. Cont in rib until Brim measures 3cm from beg, ending with a Row 2. Change to 3.25mm needles.
Work 40 (40-44-44) rows stocking st, dec 4 (2-6-6) sts evenly across last row...97 (113-113-113) sts.
Shape Crown
Row 1:(RS) K1, * sl 1, K2tog, psso, K9 (11-11-11), repeat from * to end...81 (97-97-97) sts.
Row 2: & foll alt rows: Purl.
Row 3: K1, * sl 1, K2tog, psso, K7 (9-9-9), repeat from * to end...65 (81-81-81) sts.
Row 5: K1, * sl 1, K2tog, psso, K5 (7-7-7), repeat from * to end...49 (65-65-65) sts.
Cont dec in this manner, working 2 sts less between dec each time in every foll alt row until 17 sts rem. Cut off yarn leaving a long tail. Thread tail through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress stitch, join side edges tog to form centre back seam. Using Knitting Stitch Embroidery, embroider motif from Graph onto front of Hat as pictured beg above brim. Weave in loose ends.
