What is the difference between a white wine glass and one for red wine?
A white wine glass typically has a smaller bowl and a taller stem. It has been designed in this way to ensure that the heat from your hand will not reach the bowl that is holding your wine, helping to maintain the fresh, crisp flavour that is synonymous with a good bottle of white. A red wine glass generally has a larger bowl, one that has been designed to maximise the emerging aromas. With red wine, it is also recommended that you fill the glass to around one-third full, as this will allow room for the wine to be swirled and the full flavour to be released.
How should I clean my new glassware?
Well, that does depend on which of our glassware you have chosen, and we advise that you check whether your purchase is dishwasher safe or not. If not, use warm water to wash glassware, but your final rinse should be with cold water for the best effect. Place the glass upside down on a clean surface for around a minute before you dry with a cotton or linen towel. We always recommend washing your new glasses as soon as possible after you have used them.
However, if it is the end of the night or you are not quite in the mood for washing up, rinse them out with warm water to be washed properly at a later time. Make sure that your glassware is thoroughly dry before putting it away. We do not recommend putting hot liquids, such as coffee, water or tea, into our glassware products as there is a chance that the glass can crack.
