What is the optimum way to store wine?
Well, that does depend on your wine, with different types of wine requiring different methods. However, there are a few things that you can do at home to prevent your vino from turning into vinegar. One of the most important things to consider when storing wine is the temperature, as fluctuations in temperature can speed up the aging process dramatically.
It should be stored in a dark, cool area of your home. To enjoy a deliciously chilled glass of white or rose, just put the bottle into the refrigerator approximately 30 minutes before you would like it. If your bottle is corked, store on the side, as this can help to reduce the risk of oxidation. If it is screw top, it can be stored either horizontally or vertically.
Do you have any mixology tips for beginners?
Upgrade your dinner parties with delicious cocktails, with a selection of accessories and tools available in our barware collection. Mixology is so much fun, and your friends or guests are sure to be impressed when you whip them up a Cosmo or a traditional. If you are new to the world of cocktail making,
- Whenever possible, use fresh ingredients, particularly with regard to fruit juices. Fresh produce will really maximise the flavours in your drink and enhance the whole drinking experience.
- It is also important to think about the glass temperature, as this should approximately match the temperature of the drink. For example, if you are serving a chilled drink, pop your glass in the freezer for a minute to chill it out. Alternatively, if you are making a warm cocktail, rinse your glass with hot water to heat it gently.
- Glasses have been purposely designed to carry specific drinks, and having the right glass is sure to make the right impression. Check out our glassware catalogue for glasses of all nature at our unbelievably low prices.
- Finally, consider your garnish. Whilst it is up to you whether you garnish your drink, it is important to remember that garnishes have been chosen to enhance the overall drinking experience. Some drinks truly need their garnish, such as martini and olives, but with others, it can be absent.
