What are the benefits of using thermal curtain fabrics?
Thermal curtain fabrics have been treated so that the heat remains where it should be rather than escaping outside. This will help to keep you warmer on those cold winter nights, through providing increased insulation. This also means if you keep your curtains closed in the summer, they will also help to keep your housed cooler. Thermal curtains can also reduce cold draughts, and will block out lots of light. Some of our thermal curtain fabrics have been treated with an acrylic backing to improve their insulation properties, whereas others feature a triple weave that has an extra insulating layer in the middle. Be more energy efficient and choose thermal curtain fabrics to make beautiful drapes for your home.
How should I wash my new thermal curtain fabrics?
The way that you wash your thermal curtain fabric may depend on which you have chosen, and we always recommend reading the manufacturer's instructions before you begin. We do not recommend washing your thermal curtain fabrics in the washing machine, instead, hand wash gently. They can also be vacuumed regularly, using the upholstery attachment, to reduce the build-up of dust and dirt. Hang your curtains to dry, but do not fold over the washing line. It is important that the acrylic backing on each of the curtains does not touch. Finally, always avoid the use of any harsh chemicals including chlorine and bleach.
Is there anything else I need to remember?
It is important to note that some of our room darkening curtain fabrics are sold by the metre so that you can order exactly how much you need for your desired project. We endeavour to always cut our orders in one piece, however, due to the size of the rolls provided by manufacturers, this cannot always be guaranteed. As a result, if you do make an order that is over 5m, it is not likely to be in one continuous piece.
