How do I do magic drapes?
First of all, you will need to measure for your magic drapes, and a great way to do this is by measuring the rod or track that you currently have installed. If you are measuring your windows, then measure where you would like your rod or track to be. We always recommend using a metal tape measurer, as this will allow for extra accuracy.
The measurement that you will need for your magic drape will then depend on the overall finish that you are hoping to achieve. Eyelet curtains would require one and a half times the width of your rod, whereas for a pencil pleat finish you will need to double it. Eyelet curtains will be hung by threading them directly onto the rod, offering a modern, relaxed finish and a stylish window Decor. If you are looking for a pleated curtain finish, then you will need hooks or rings.
To create gather, measure your curtain pole and add 6 inches then divide the total by two. This is the width that you must pull your curtains too, using the strings on the heading tape. Take hold of the loose ends and pull the cords evenly to create nice and straight pleats. When your curtain width is equal to the previous measurements, your curtains are ready to hang. Measure the length of your curtains, adding an extra 5-15 cm for your hem. You will hem the sides and the bottoms of your magic drapes. If you do not have a sewing machine, or you are not confident with your machine skills, you could also use double sided adhesive hemming tape for a crisp and easy finish.
How should I wash my new magic drapes?
It is not recommended that you wash your magic drapes in the washing machine, instead, wash in a cold hand wash only. Do not rub, wring or twist your curtains whilst you are washing them, and do not allow the coated wet sides to touch at any point. When you are drying your magic drapes curtains, it is recommended that you drip dry in the shade before hanging your curtains over hooks. Do not fold over the washing line or at any point during the drying process. Finally, always avoid the use of any harsh chemicals, such as chlorine and bleach.
