INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 - Cut two 135cm x 90cm wide strips down the length of the fabric. Cut two 135cm x 90cm rectangles from woven interfacing.

Step 2 - Fuse the interfacing rectangles to the wrong side of the fabric rectangles. Overlock or zigzag around all edges to prevent fraying.

Step 3 - Place the two rectangles together with right sides facing making sure that print is running down the length in the same direction. Pin together down each long side.

Step 4 - Sew rectangles together down each long side using 1.5cm seam allowance, leaving short ends open.

Step 5 - Check the direction of your print and pin together along the bottom edge only. Sew bottom edge together using 1.cm seam allowance. Do not turn right side out.

Step 6 - Open the remaining unstitched end and bring the seams together in the centre and pin. This end is now at right angles to the bottom edge.

Step 7 - Centre the zipper across seam and pin one side of the zipper to one side of the opening. Attach the zipper foot to your machine and sew this side of the zipper in place. Pin the other side of the zipper to the other side of the opening and sew in place.

Step 8 - With zipper partly open sew the seams from ends of zipper out to folded edges.

Step 9 - Open the zipper fully and turn bean bag right side out through opening. Push out corners using a wooden chopstick and carefully press. Topstitch around seams 1cm from the edge.

Step 10 - Fill with beans to desired fullness and close zipper.

Tip - to prevent the temptation of inquisitive little fingers opening the zipper sew a few stitches through the hole of the zipper pull securing it to the fabric in the seam.
