*Amount of fabric required will depend on the size of your table and which fabrics are to be used on each panel. See Step 1 & 2 to work out fabric requirements.

Note: If you want a tight-fitting tent with only a 1cm spare on each edge of table, sew all seams with a 1.5cm allowance.

If you want your tent, not so snug with 1.5cm spare on all edges, sew with a 1cm seam allowance.

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 - Measure the depth (A), width (B) and height (C) of the table that the tent will go over.

Step 2 - Cut the following pieces:

Top of tent: A +5cm x B +5cm

Back side of tent: B +5cm x C +5cm

2x side ends of tent: A +5cm x C +5cm

Left front side: 1/4 of B +5cm x C +5cm

Right front side: 1/2 of B +5cm x C +5cm

Door Flap: 2/3 of B x C +5cm

Curtains: 2 x 40cm high by 44cm wide

Window facing: 40cm square

Step 3 - Overlock all edges of all the cut fabric pieces.

Step 4- With right sides facing together, pin the two side ends of the tent to the sides of the back of the tent. Sew together stopping the seam 1cm/1.5cm (see note) from the top edge. Press seams open.

Step 5- With right sides facing together, pin the left front panel to the side end on the right side of the back panel. Sew together stopping the seam at the seam allowance from the top edge. Press seam open.

Step 6- With right sides facing, place window facing piece on top of the right front side piece in the center with the top edge of the facing 15/20cm down from the top edge of the front piece. Pin in place. With a pencil or a washable marker, draw a 30cm square on wrong side of facing in the center. Sew facing to fabric on marked square.

Leaving a 1cm seam next to stitching, cut out the fabric layers on the inside of this sewn square. Clip into corners then turn the facing to the underside of the fabric panel. Turn panel over to the wrong side. Press facing flat and along sewn seam. Pin facing in place to panel and top stitch facing to fabric, .5cm in from outer edges of facing.

Step 7- With right sides facing, fold each of the curtain fabric pieces in half across the width of the fabric. Pin and then sew around all edges with a 1cm seam allowance, leaving a 5cm opening along one edge for turning out. Clip corners and turn fabric right way out through the openings. Press curtains and the opening seam allowances to the inside. Topstitch all around outer edges.

Step 8- Pin the top of the curtains, to right side panel of front, aligning with the outer top stitching line of the window facing. Adjust placement if desired. Sew curtains to panel over stitching line only at the top.

Optional: Cut two small pieces of hook & loop tape. Sew one side of tape to the front inner corner of each curtain. Fold up each curtain on an angle outward to open up to desired positioning. Pin and then sew the other side of hook & loop tape to the right front tent panel to correspond with tape on the curtains.

Step 9- With right sides facing together, pin the right front panel with window to the side end on the left side of the back panel. Sew together stopping the seam at the seam allowance from the top edge. Press seam open.

Step 10- With right sides facing together, fold the door flap fabric piece in half across the width of the fabric. Pin and then sew the side and base edges together with a 1cm seam allowance. Clip corners and turn fabric right way out through the open top. Press fabric flat and top stitch all around outer edges.

Step 11- Cut heading tape into four equal lengths. Sew a double fold hem on one end of each of the lengths of tape.

Measure in 10/15cm from each side edge along the top of the door flap, (adjust measurement to suit size of door or as preferred). Pin the un-hemmed edge of the lengths tape to these measurements, one length at each side on the front, and one length at the same point on the back side of door flap. Sew in place to door flap.

Step 12- With right sides facing together, pin the top panel to the top edge of the back panel. Sew in place stopping the seam at either side at the seam allowance.

Repeat same method to attach the two side edges of the tent to the top of the table piece at the sides.

Step 13- With right sides facing together, pin the left front panel to the top panel at the left side. Then pin the right front panel with window to the top at the right side.

Pin the top edge of the door flap to the top panel into the center of the gap between the front left and right panel. The edges of the door flap need to overlap on top of the left and right front panels. Open out top panel to the right side gently to check that the door flap overlaps over the top of side panels, and not under them. Adjust if needed.

Sew front panels to top panel along pinned edges, stopping the seam at either side at the seam allowance.

Step 14- Press all seams open and turn tent right way out. Place tent over table.

Mark and pin up desired hem length of all panels. Sew hems in place and press.

Step 15- To open front door flap, roll up door from the base, leaving tape hanging. Once at desired height, tie the back tape to the front tape at each side in a bow.
