  • 40cm Fabric F - Poppies, Red

  • 20cm Fabric H - Tropical Leaves
  • 60cm Fabric I - Palms, Multi
  • 60cm Fabric J - Abstract Stripes, Blues
  • 40cm Fabric K - Bubbles, Blues
  • 40cm Fabric L - Rainbows, Blues
  • 90cm Fabric M - Rainy Clouds, Blues (includes binding)
  • 20cm Fabric N - Raindrops, Blues

  • 5m x 250cm wide Backing fabric of choice
  • 5m Legacy cotton/bamboo batting
  • Matching Gutermann 100% cotton thread
  • Rotary cutter, mat & quilters rulers
  • Quilting pins, tape measure
  • Scissors, seam ripper
  • Hand needle
  • Optional - Template plastic
  • Sewing machine with 1/4" foot & walking foot

Note - All fabrics should be 100% cotton, washed & pressed.

1/4" seam allowance used throughout unless otherwise indicated.

Read all instructions carefully before commencing the quilt.

INSTRUCTIONS

MEASUREMENTS

Quilt measures: 54" x 78" (137cm x 198cm)

Note - There are two options for cutting the blocks.

Option 1 - Using template plastic make a template with the following measurements.

Option 2 - Using your quilters rulers measure across the strip as shown below. For as many blocks as required.

All strips are cut across the width of fabric unless otherwise stated.

From Fabric A cut 1 x 61/2" strip, crosscut strips into 3 blocks.

From Fabric B cut 1 x 61/2" strip, crosscut strips into 4 blocks.

From Fabric C cut 1 x 61/2" strip, crosscut strips into 3 blocks.

From Fabric D cut 1 x 61/2" strip, crosscut strips into 5 blocks.

From Fabric E cut 1 x 61/2" strip, crosscut strips into 6 blocks.

From Fabric F cut 2 x 61/2" strips, crosscut strips into 15 blocks.

From Fabric G cut 1 x 61/2" strip, crosscut strips into 10 blocks.

From Fabric H cut 1 x 61/2" strip, crosscut strips into 9 blocks.

From Fabric I cut 3 x 61/2" strips, crosscut strips into 23 blocks.

From Fabric J cut 3 x 61/2" strips, crosscut strips into 23 blocks.

From Fabric K cut 2 x 61/2" strips, crosscut strips into 19 blocks.

From Fabric L cut 2 x 61/2" strips, crosscut strips into 15 blocks.

From Fabric M cut 2 x 61/2" strips, crosscut strips into 11 blocks - cut 7 x 21/2" strips for binding.

From Fabric N cut 1 x 61/2" strip, crosscut strips into 7 blocks.

From Fabric O cut 1 x 61/2" strip, crosscut strips into 3 blocks.

QUILT TOP

Step 1 - Refer to layout diagram for block placement. Arrange blocks into 13 rows with 12 blocks in each row.

Step 2 - Sew blocks together in each row pressing seams in one direction alternating the direction in each row.

Step 3 - Pin and sew the rows together matching seams. Press seams in one direction.

Step 4 - Layer the backing, batting and quilt top and baste together. Quilt 1/4" in from each side of the vertical seams or quilt as desired.

Step 5 - To square up the quilt trim the sides at narrowest point.

Step 6 - Join the 7 x 21/2" binding strips together on the bias to make one long strip. Press in half lengthwise and bind mitering corners. Attach a label or sign and date your quilt.
