21 sts and 26 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 4mm needles.

Special abbreviation

Cable A - slip next 4 sts onto cable needle and leave at front of work, K4, then K4 from cable needle.

Cable B - slip next 4 sts onto cable needle and leave at back of work, K4, then K4 form cable needle.

Using set 4.00mm Needles, cast on 128 sts, join into a round taking care not to twist sts.

Beg Rib - 1st round - * K2, P2, rep from * to end.

Rep 1st round 11 times, dec one st at beg and end of last round ... 126 sts, 12 rounds rib in all.

Beg Patt - 1st round (RS) - * (K2, P2) twice, K8, P2, rep from * to end.

Rep 1st round 4 times more.

6th round - * (K2, P2) twice, Cable A, P2, rep from * to end.

Rep 1st round twice.

Rep last 8 rounds 4 times more ... 40 rounds patt in total.

Shape crown

1st round - * K2, P2, K2, P2tog, K8, P2tog, rep from * to end ... 112 sts.

2nd round - * K2, P2, K2, P1, K8, P1, rep from * to end.

Rep 2nd round 3 times.

Next round - * K2, P2, K2, P1, Cable A, P1, rep from * to end.

Next round - * K2tog, P2, K2tog, P1, K8, P1, rep from * to end ... 98 sts.

Next round - * K1, P2, K1, P1, K8, P1, rep from * to end.

Rep last round twice more.

Next round - * K1, P2, K1, P1, K2, (K2tog) twice, K2, P1, rep from * to end = 84 sts.

Next round - * K1, P2, K1, P1, Cable B, P1, rep from * to end.

Next round - * (K2tog) twice, P1, K6, P1, rep from * to end ... 70 sts.

Next round - * K2, P1, K1, (K2tog) twice, K1, P1, rep from * to end ... 56 sts.

Next round - * K2, P1, (K2tog) twice, P1, rep from * to end ... 42 sts.

Next round - * K2tog, P1, rep from * to end ... 28 sts.

Break off yarn leaving a long end. Run end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.
